I used to take 150mg fluvoxamine for dysthymia. To nullify the resultant insomnia I took a tiny dose of olanzapine. This regime worked tolerably well. For me, fluvoxamine caused less severe sexual and sleep problems compared to other SSRIs.
I have read that olanzapine tends to shut down neurotransmitters, therefore it probably worked slightly against the fluvoxamine in tackling my unipolar depression.
I am wondering whether trazodone might be worth a try instead of olanzapine. The main advantage being that trazodone may help my depression rather than hinder it. I could then maybe lower my dose of fluvoxamine to 100mg. Trazodone may also be better for libido and controlling weight than olanzapine.
Anyone tried this combo, or have any opinions?

It matters if the olanzapine helped or hurt your particular depression, it can do either for people. If it isn't particularly helping, i'd switch to help keeping weight under control. Cyproheptadine can often help both sleep and sexual problems. That could be useful too (it can make you hungry, but if you get laid and then fall asleep, its not a problem).

Hi DR,
Thanks for the tip on Cyproheptadine. I've done a bit of reading and it seems to be good for SSRI sexual problems. I would only take it as needed though, a couple of hours before sex. I think taking it every day would risk compromising the antidepressant.

I'd actually expect it to improve antidepressant efficacy. And good sex and sleep don't hurt either.
