I used to take 150mg fluvoxamine for dysthymia. To nullify the resultant insomnia I took a tiny dose of olanzapine. This regime worked tolerably well. For me, fluvoxamine caused less severe sexual and sleep problems compared to other SSRIs.
I have read that olanzapine tends to shut down neurotransmitters, therefore it probably worked slightly against the fluvoxamine in tackling my unipolar depression.
I am wondering whether trazodone might be worth a try instead of olanzapine. The main advantage being that trazodone may help my depression rather than hinder it. I could then maybe lower my dose of fluvoxamine to 100mg. Trazodone may also be better for libido and controlling weight than olanzapine.
Anyone tried this combo, or have any opinions?
