Hi, I am currently taking fluoxetine and methylphenidate. Heres the thing, I think that the methylphenidate does more for me than the fluoxetine does in terms of keeping the depression at bay.
I feel stable on methylphenidate alone, but when fluox was added I feel like I am cycling or something.
I don't want to suggest methylphenidate monotherapy to the doctor as he may suspect drug abuse which is simply not the case.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Were you diagnosed as a kid with attention deficit as that might help you're on both what if just take the one and see how that goes. Now just a suggestion. Phillipa

one of my pdocs actually tried it as monotherapy for me at one time. i think he used the LA version. but if you feel you can be honest with him. i'd tell him. (just like you told us) that the flux just isn't working and you feel more like you're cycling and would like to get off it with just the methlynphenadate for a month or so...
good luck

>A small suggestion--it might help abate potential (unjust) suspicion, if you emphasized a desire for the long-acting version of methylphendate, which I think is considered 'safer' (abuse-wise) than the immediate release stuff, rather than showing enthusiasm for the immediate release form.
Don't know if that's any help, but I thought I'd throw it out there, just in case.

Yes, I am already taking a long acting version (biphentin or something).
