Thanks so much jade for starting this thread. I've been lazy about many things and one has been posting/reading on this site. I always have finals this week. About three weeks ago I had syncope twice during a day (I was on 90mg, titrated up there too fast) in two different locations. First, when I woke up and hopped(not really) out of bed to get my girlfriend out of the house before the roommates (parents) woke up. Withing seconds my vision got blurry and my head got painfully (moderate) hot and I lost consciousness for a few seconds...Thus falling face forward onto a wooden chair (with the seat facing the other way)

I regained consciousness as soon or a half of a second after I had fainted. The second time was when I went to my primary care to ask for and eventually receive Cialis (oh yeah). I sat down for a few waiting for them to call me only to remember I had to go sign in and all that (I'm new to this place, I wasn't delirious....yet). I got up walked four feet over and as I was waiting for the receptionist

to notice me I looked at the other receptionships in the tiny little office through the window and they all began to turn red and trippy. I remember briefly thinking to myself "oh sh*t; not again!" and right there it did. I could hear as I was falling into the abyss cries from them about catching me or something. Surprisingly, the receptionist did. I regained what large amount of consciousness I lost and was being carried to the room where they took my blood pressure and an EKG. They were both fine...I think the BP may have been a little on the bad side. I asked the nurse's aid what it looked like and she said I kind've made a doggy paddle thing with my hands (to catch the wall in front of me) and thats how they noticed I was going down. So I didn't just plummet, I slowly fell giving off a fainters facial expression. It was still a nice catch, thinking back to it she got up off her chair (which are giant balls..don't ask) ran three feet to her right out of the office, ran another three feet, and then stutter stepped left to catch me.

I was just dehydrated, after drinking copious amounts of water and given the instruction not to drive my mom showed up and we went to the store and I got some gatorade. I had little hypotension...I was actually comandeering the shopping cart. So all was well. My mom has always hated Nardil though, because of the diet. She has no idea about anything and if I think a drugs best she opposes...She thought I was manic when I was saying my grades were really good when I just started Adderall and then figuratively slapped her in the face with deans list. But that...and my relationship with the devil are a different story entirely...The rest of the day went on good, I had a BP cuff and it was continuously giving me good news. It was a thing of the past, a side effect gone wrong because of dehydration and being at such a dose too quickly. Later that night, having not slept in a while I popped a seroquel for my 3rd time in the 6 months since it was in my posession after one of my friends didn't want it. I read up on it because the other two times I wasnt on Nardil and got ready to be knocked out for a solid 16 hours. Right after that, my parents came downstairs saying they couldn't go to bed if I wasnt checked out at the ER. This was the worst hospital experience of my life...

I was wheelchaired (they had to) to my room and greeted by what would turn out to be a nurse on crank. Those who escorted me left and the nurse expectedly told me to sit on the bed. So I obeyed. Nothing (aside from her actions) was urgent keep in mind. She had just come back from railing a line or something. More abuse from her ensued...and then I was asked if I would provide a urine sample. WIth nothing to hide even if it were a drug test for a PO, I simply said "yes." "Really?" She was shocked. "Usually people aren't as enthusiastic about giving urine samples." So...I tried. And tried. I was experiencing urinary retention at home for a few days before this

but never this bad. I asked for privacy and as much as I wanted to, couldn't. I forgot to mention, my pupils were off and on dilating the days (idk how many) before the hospital. It was established among everyone attending including my parents that I wasn't high for the 15th hour and it was just a s/e. The MD's knew, etc. So the nurse barged into the bathroom where I was trying to go. She slammed the door shut (with many doctors and nurses right outside doing their own thing) and I told her I simply couldn't do it. They told me earlier when I couldn't that the last resort was a catheter so you know I was trying! Not wanting to hold it up any further..."I'm thinking a catheter would be best as much as I don't want to say it." The nurse had many awful things to say about me but this stood out the most "You look like you're on drugs (Okay, I know I do my eyes are dilated as hell not a bad assumption) and you act like you're on drugs!* Noone is ever enthusiastic(?) about getting a catheter!"

"You act like you're on drugs!"...That was a low blow that I could not accept. I was always labeled the sketchy kid...hearing it time and time again. This was due to my treatment-resistant social anxiety (could be more d/x's...)as I finally got the N. I treat everyone with respect as they all deserve it and was doing so the whole time. That one comment...We walked back to my room where the MD and his staff was, and my parents. The nurse put on a kind face and informed the MD of what she was going to do (catheterization of course.) She also said something else on the bad side and I right there called her out in front of the entire medical staff. "You also said that I act like I am on drugs in the bathroom." Everyone but her and my parents (who don't buy a thing I say) were blatantly shocked. Nurse: (with a front..an almost heavenly voice) "No, Kevin we had a frank conversation and I noticed your eyes and saw they were dilated. All I said was it looks like you're on drugs." Mom: " Yeah, it was only because your eyes are dilated." "No, she said that (i'd italicize this) I act like I am on drugs. I find that offensive [/i] Mom x2 :"No, no you look like you are on drugs." *laughs between my parents and the nurse...not the rest of the staff. We move on to the catheterization..they all exit..The nurse becomes and talks like a whole new person and I think to myself, hey the rest of the night won't be so bad...Aside from the ensuing procedure. So I got a tube plugged where it shouldn't go and it was pretty painful. A very weird pain. Relief of my bladder though...

I know all about the checking up on patients with catheters playing with the tube etc...I've seen it all go down I've witnessed many medical things and have good knowledge in the very easy field that is nursing. She came in to check on me and the bag and played with the tube and then I could see from her face that she was up to something. I could see her job was done, she glanced up at me to see if I wasn't looking and then tugged harder than you should on the catheter. It was the worst pain I had ever felt in my life...The tube is pronged at the end in your bladder. She did it again. I simply asked "Why?" She was very sorry, of course. Earlier during this ordeal I asked her if she was familiar with MAOIs because we were having a discussion and she goes "uhhh yeah...Im a nurse." So I sit there in pain and she's staring at my bottle which I gave to her after she got into my face and asked me if I had taken too many. Amazingly, someone printed out the info for her and she goes "wow, you really can't eat all these?" What an ego, she didn't know anything about MAOI's. So she was chatting with the lady on the computer right outside my door as she sat on the table in front of me. She gave that lady the bottle and that lady dumped all 127 pills in the trash (it was the rest of a partial). Not inexpensive stuff either...I didn't have to be there in the first place. But I was. I stayed overnight...

I had a visit with my esteemed psychologist soon after (Dr. Tokarz of Cotuit, MA) who told me to just take it slow from now on. Later on I had one with my psychiatrist and told him about it as well. He wrote me provigil for the daytime sedation as well...which requires PA and its finals time and still nothing. (script submitted 12/08.) The pharmacist, whom is going to be one of my recommendations to pharmacy school, sent my insurance company a facsimile with a note on it and told me to call them monday and use only nice words as if it hadn't been too long. Gotta love pharmacists..

and oh yeah...I took 15 for one day and now 30 for at least a week. No relief but my sex drive is now back after....months? One ssri on a low dose it was pretty cool to last forever...but now I last forever (1/8 as long as that though....still straight) and I actually enjoy it. I am going to continue Nardil but am losing faith. I am in the midst of CBT right now and still 2.5 mg kpin needing something else so I can get off this depression exacerbating anxiety-killing machine. peace

I was sorry to see in another post that you are still taking Nardil, along with 40mg Adderall. Maybe reading this post, and seeing that That_guy doesn't want Adderall anymore will be encouraging to you. I hope so. Oh, and your welcome!! I geuss you can still remember that I started this thread for you and that_guy so you wouldn't end up on dangerous stims. Oh well.

The hospital thought you were on DRUGS?? WOW! That is shocking. I mean, you told them about the Nardil, 40mg Adderrall, Benzos, etc. Right? Well glad you got an overnight stay to make sure you were relatively stable until you saw your specialists. Well, you take care now, I know you don't like to keep hearing this Kenny, but 40mg Adderall is very dangerous with Nardil. The fact that you keep posting it at various threads indicates a cry for attention. I'm sorry I couldn't do more for you. Good Luck though!

Kenny sorry your treatment was so terrible in my opinion. That catheter had about 10cc's of air to form a balloon and keep it in place. Another needle syringe should have been introduced into the port on the catheter and the air taken out then the catheter would have slip right out. That was a lot of trauma for a delicate area. As far as your meds shouldn't have been dumped but sent to pharmacy til discharge. Unfortunately when I was in nursing school l983-85 they did not teach us a thing about MAOI's just that they were older meds no longer used. Patients were treated with TCA's and then the SSRI's. Bad experience for you and I'm so sorry about that. Love Phillipa

Very late on this one but here's my thoughts.
Problem with Nardil is you cant really do that much else with it. Its a very strong drug and prone to side effects, esp when combo. I wish I gave it up soon as it pooped out. Most helpfull combos were Klonopin, Wellbutrin, Provigil, Caffein. All short lived except Klon.
Switch to Marplan. Its still a very potent MAOI, yet allows you to augment/enhance without the feeling of toxic build up or lethergy.
I even took a decent dose of MDMA with it - was fine though completely blotted ;) Cocain fine too, NOT that I would know....
I plan to try Yohimbine next.60-70mg Marplan
3-4mg Klonopin
Wellbutrin 300mg
+ stack of nootropics. YUM

?I think it was techno that was repremanded by a deputy for "putting people down." And coincidentally it was you whom was "put down." I guess you are an exception to that rule. My reluctance, lasting quite some time, to join this forum was that I thought it would just be a "cry for attention." No disrespect by any means, but you need to focus on the sentences regarding my past legal use of amphetamines in their entirety as opposed to jumping to conclusions seeing 40 milligrams Adderall being used concurrently with Nardil in a SENTENCE. Not in my body.

Time for you to report in!! I know things get buzy when you gotta new girlfriend and all or is it girlfriends by now, or has the frenzy died down? Well anyway, I've been thinkin about ya but figured you were doing so well you probably weren't looking at this board or you would have dropped me a line. Hows the med stuff going? You know all the questions I'm gonna ask so I'll save some space and you can just right a nice post filling me in on all the details of your current existance. Still seein the pusher? Well in a strange twist of fate, my Doc, won't give me a thing! He's makin me wait tll Jan. appointment for any augments, but said no to stims. Except to increase my dose. I'm at 60mg Parnate, menatally feeling good but oh so tired. The two don't go together well as I still have LOTS to do for Christmas! I'll wait to go back to work till after the new year, but I better have energy by then or I'm in trouble. May have to find a pusher of my own, hah! OK friend, let me know how you are, okay? I hope things are great, but even if they aren't, catch up with me-K? you can babblemail me if you'd rather. See ya Poster Boy!!

I'm sorry I haven't posted back. I still thought of you though, so don't worry. Me and my girlfriend didn't work out, couse we weren't in the same place. But it's cool were still friends, we decided to end it before we got serious ,as I belive I mentioned. I was releived to in a way, because remember the other girl, the one I was always crazy about, I messaged her ansd the next day, she showed up at my buddies, she had a book, the biography of kurt cobain, which she knew I wanted to read so badly, and also a card, it was the sweetest card ever. I know she has to have something for me, but like I said she has a boyfriend, and if tey work out, i'll be happy, as long as she is, but i'm also gonna show her that I'm willing to wait a long time for her, even if she wanted to start a relationship now, I wouldn't with her, becuase I have to be much further ahead.I have been busy, hanging with my boys, there alwasys drinking. I have to say, there were 2 nights I had one or 2 beer, but I stopped and just felt it was time to go home, I really wanted to prove to myself, that I had that strenght, it may be a relapse, and I do feel bad, but it was my choice,and in a way I feel it was a big step. I knew the word stop.
As far as the nardil goes, i was upped to 90 the last appt. with old pdoc., although I upped them myself a week prior, because I was gonna anyway. I told her about the sexuall se's and she mentioned wellbutrin. I knew she would check her book, see that it was contradicted, since I realized she didn't know enough about MAOI's. So I told her know i'm pretty sure it's contradicted, actually knowing but not trying to outsmart her, sure enough she did exactly as I expected. In the mean time I was still waiting on a call from the "pusher"lol. And of course, I think I mentioned this, but they mailed the refferal, instead of faxing it. So my first appt. with him is not til jan 16. Hoping to get augmentation, low dose ritalin. Sorry you didn't get augmentation yer, hopefully it helps.
As far as the nardil, it's definately helped my depression and maybe a little for the SA, but I get out all the time and push myself, and I think thats helping alot. I will continue it hopefully along with an augmentation. Well I have to get something, but with lo BP ans sex SE's i thing methylphenidate would be best. I guess I'll find out in a month. If by feb, or even march, I'm not satisfied, I think I may switch staight to parnate, although I hope I don't have to.
So sorry iit took so long to get back to you, remember, I always will.
Seemed to be alot of contrversy on this thread, thoough huh? Thats what I mean people shouldn't just try to get you to change your meds, you should give it a fair trial, I think especially with MAOI's.
Well get back to me jade, i'd love to hear more on your parnatr experience, and I hope it goes well. I'm doing good, but feel I have a ways to go. Good luck with the augment, hope it helps, I have to wait like another month too,but I guess thats all you can do.
