I have been experiencing muscle spams from the Geodon. Gah!
I really don't want to take cogentin or artane because they affect the H1 receptor.
Anyone ever use magnesium for these types of spasms and did it work?
Thanks for your help!

And just when you had the perfect combo I'm sorry. Phillipa. don't know about the magnesium. I just consider it a vitamin and anti constipation. Would it be high doses?

I didn't get dystonia on Geodon, but before she gave me the samples my shrink told me that if I experienced any dystonia to take Benadryl (diphenhydramine HCl) right away.Hope it helps and best of luck. =)

Benadryl blocks the H1 receptor, like cogentin.

I thought you said Tardive Dyskinesia. That is completely different from dystonia, which isn't necessarily tardive though it could be, in my rare case.
It is called TDy, not TD and has more treatments than TD but may not go away nearly as much as TD, which by the way goes away in at least 1/3 of patients.
Dystonia is muscle contractions to various parts of the body, stiffness, contractions. Dystonia can be medication induced or it can be organic, by birth, etc.-- Jay

I would monitor the dystonia carefully and if it seems to get worse I would personally back off the agent and try another one.
Dystonia can eventually be tardive, though not always. If you've been on it for years though and haven't really had major problems, then maybe it still is the agent for you.
I can't be your doctor, I'm just going by what happened to me, so perhaps I'm channeling a bit.
