Looks like geodon can cause anxiety and was highlighted in this page of Web TV. Lets see if this works there are all categories about geodon you can click onto. Phillipa
Geodon Side Effects to Report
There are a number of side effects with Geodon that you should report to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
Signs of diabetes, such as high blood sugar, increased thirst, frequent urination, and/or extreme hunger (see Geodon and Diabetes)
Large or rapid weight gain
Suicidal thoughts
Anxiety
High blood pressure (hypertension)
Dizziness or fainting when going from a sitting or lying-down position to standing
Feelings of internal restless or jitteriness
Any abnormal muscle movements (these abnormal movements can become permanent if Geodon is not stopped quickly)
Signs or symptoms of neuroleptic malignant syndrome, which can include:
A high fever
Stiff muscles
Confusion
Irregular pulse or blood pressure
An increased heart rate (tachycardia)
Sweating
Irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias)
Signs of an allergic reaction, including unexplained rash, hives, itching, unexplained swelling, wheezing, or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
Less Common Geodon Side Effects
There are other, less common Geodon side effects that can occur. These side effects occur in less than 2 percent of people taking the medication. It is difficult to tell whether these side effects are actually caused by Geodon or other factors.
These less common Geodon side effects include but are not limited to:
Low thyroid (hypothyroidism) or overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism)
Anemia
Pneumonia
Nose bleed
Eczema
Dry eyes
Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
Impotence, also known as erectile dysfunction or ED (see Geodon Sexual Side Effects)
Abnormal ejaculation
Difficulty achieving orgasm
Gout.

I thought you were taking it mainly for mixed state depression and the lower dose would be adequate. Your Dr. is starting you slow with plans of increasing as you adjust to the med? I would think a higher dose would help with your anxiety as well as calming your mind?Keep positive, at least you are trying and can always return to Serequel if need be. Will you be seeing your Dr. soon or have you been instructed to increase your dose as prescribed??

>Hi Rick!
I am going to contact my psychiatrist tomorrow and ask for an increase. Since I am starting to have psychotic features going on I think it's REALLY important that I get things under control quickly.
Last night I had to take some Seroquel so that I could calm down.
My food cravings went away on Geodon which is what I was hoping for. But I can't live with this anxiety.

Thanks Phillipa. I know that it can cause anxiety and I really hope it's not the Geodon doing it. I just returned to work after being on sick leave for 3 weeks ... I hope that's what's causing the anxiety.

For schizoid disorders, 40mg just ain't going to do it. Go to 80mg ASAP. I'll be curious if you have a lactation problem with this drug. I wouldn't expect so, but you never know. Geodon is the most antidepressant-like (on paper) of the APs. If lactation emerges as a side effect, and you haven't yet tried Abilify, I would recommend giving it a try.
Good luck.

Thanks for your support. :)

Heya Maxime,
I found much more relief at 120-160mg. I never had any lactation problems.I hope things will get smoothed out soon. I hope the voices are saying nice things to you (although they never seem to, huh?)

I hope I feel better soon.

I've never taken seroquel, but imagine its similar to zyprexa, witch I take. I tried to switch to geodon too. What a mistake. I tried very high doses, 5x60mg. This is when I started hearing voices, and couldn't sleep well. It also gave me blurry vision at the high doses.
There's no replacing zyprexa for me. I tried them all, except for seroquel. Also got diabetes on geodon. The closest thing to zyprexa is perphenazine, which I also take as an add on to zyprexa. Yes perphenazine has no weight gain, which I assume is why you are trying geodon.

hey zyprexa,
i had a similar reaction to higher doses of geodon. 80 didn't work so he doubled it to 160 and my depression became so horrible i can't believe i made it through without hospitalization. i even stopped working, and had constant suicidal visions.i too tried geodon to help with the weight.
unfortunately for me too zyprexa is key for me. (at least something works). my old stand-by. but weight gainer zyprexa.best wishes to you

Well luckily the 80 mg is helping my anxiety which mean eventually it will help with the voices. I think now I just have to be patient, but it's hard.
Staying on Seroquel isn't an option because I can't stay med compliant because of the weight gain. Zyprexa and Risperdal both make me gain weight and lactate. So I am really hoping things work out with this meds. I am trying to stay positive. :)

The 80 mg helps my anxiety and I am starting to feel better. I am still hearing voices, but it's getting better.
Thanks!

I think I am going to need more than 80 mg, but I am going to wait it out for bit. It really doesn't make me tired at all except for the first two days on a higher dose.

What were you on Geodon for? Did it make you more tired at a higher dosage. It doesn't make me sleepy and I would like it to. I'm at 80 mg now. Will stay at this dosage for another week and see how it goes.

> What were you on Geodon for?
Post-traumatic stress flashbacks. (I also had depression and anxiety at the same time)
>Did it make you more tired at a higher dosage.
Yes it did. The sleepiness would peak about 2 hours after each dose. If I took more than 60mg at a time I was nearly comatose.
>It doesn't make me sleepy and I would like it to. I'm at 80 mg now. Will stay at this dosage for another week and see how it goes.
>
>I'm sorry that it's not sedating for you. This med kicked my butt, in terms of sedation. I nearly blacked out in public on multiple occasions. This, despite 200 mg of provigil (a stimulant)
funny how meds can affect us so differently.
I hope that you feel better soon

Thank you Jereon. I think I am starting to experience some muscle spams at a dose of 120 mg. I am not sure though. I will keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't get worse.
Thanks again!
