Uridine from Cardiovascular Research

Posted by tarheelex on November 4, 2008, at 12:40:57

Has anyone tried supplementing with uridine? I bought a bottle from Cardiovascular Research but have yet to try it. Looks like a miracle compound from test results but there are a limited amount of human studies and it looks like it might cause some fatty tissue gain. Good for the HIV patients that it is promoted for (to combat side effects of HIV drugs), not so good for the rest of us.

Thoughts?

Haha, saw that too. It's in beer b/c beer contains brewers yeast. Tomatoes are a good source too. If you haven't seen the research on this, type in uridine and depression on Google and read the stunning results - immediate antidepressant effect in the forced swim test.

Have you seen this company who is doing phase 2 clinical trails using uradine for bipolar depression?

I ordered it from a company called Cardiovascular Research at a cost of $17. They were very helpful and have a large selection of hard to find supplements. Still haven't tried it yet, hate to take it without confirmation of normal side effects from clinical trials.

Unfortunately, uridine's half-life is very fleeting and thus has poor efficacy. That's why triacetyluridine has been formulated to hopefully prolong its activity.

Here is the link to the 2nd quarter 08 conference call with analysts for the company that is doing phase 2 trials for their uridine derivative - per previous posters looks like it will improve the delivery of the compound as opposed to just straight uridine.

Finally bit the bullet and started with uridine 50 mgs yesterday and 1 gram of enteric coated EPA fish oil. Last night I dreamt for the first time (at least what I can remember) in many months. Woke up significantly energized with underlying nervousness - not worse than other things I have tried. Don't think it's placebo effect - the rats had the same immediate reaction. Hope the nervousness goes away. Will probably go down to 25 mgs for one week. Will report again.
