I'd been slowly titrating up on Remeron and reached 15 mg a couple of weeks ago. My mood started to slip big-time and now it's terrible--return of all depression symptoms, including tiredness, smoking a lot, and crying. I saw my pdoc a week ago and she said we needed to give it more time at 15 mg before doing anything else. But I don't think that is such good advice. I feel worse and worse every day. I am going to start titrating up on the mirtazapine to 30--thoughts?

Which I'd actually forgotten about until I replied to a post above. Nothing serious--some disconnected voices as I fall asleep (which I've often experienced without meds; they just come on sooner and stronger and more frequently with Remeron)--but there is some visual stuff I've never experienced before. Colored spiraling lights and stuff. It doesn't seem bothersome, but should I worry about it?

That's a question for your pdoc. They say the higher the dose of remeron the more activating it is. Phillipa

Maybe you are on the wrong type of medicine?? Posibly an anti-psychotic would work better.

Yes -- I've experienced not what you'd call a traditional hallucination, but a hypnagogic hallucination on Remeron. But this may have been because of my visual disorder. It was sort of curious I must admit, I saw the last "frame" of my dream as I awoke.
I don't know about the voices part.
I'm not sure you should titrate up without your doctor's approval because she may have some other insight as to why these things are happening at the first place.
You probably are having some reaction to the a2/NE effect and it could just get worse. Why go AMA (against medical advice) if you have a doctor in the first place? More isn't necessarily better.
