Hello,
I am new here so hello to all. I just wanted to ask if anyone gets unusual side effects when taking zoloft? I have been taking it for about 2 weeks now and have experienced some strange side effects like problems with balance and coordination? Is this normal
Eddie

Welcome to babble.
Have you noticed any dizziness with zoloft?
That might account for the balance and coordination effect.
Seldom

Yes and another welcome what dose are you on? I myself took 50mg and noticed nothing but also had a benzo on board. Could be start-up effects have you been on other antidepressants? Love Phillipa

The stupid thing is , this was back in 1996-1998?.. and in 2007 I was in a truck accident and as a result had poor balance , dizziness.. and they take my reported side effect in 1996 as proof of previous similar symptoms! and therefore it was preexisting.. sigh
I don't know but I had some pretty wierd symptoms from SSRI"s.
Later in 2001 I was diagnosed as hborderline hypothryoid, so maybe that is why?
Welcome from me also, and I hope others may be able to explain what happens here better than I can
Jan

Hey Jan we share the same name IRL if that is your's but back on topic when my thyroid started hasimostos I suffered horrible vertigo where I had to go to the ER and a shot of Ativan and then antivert. Wonder if this is a sign of hypothyroidism? Jan/Phillipa

Yep I knew that ..about the same name:-)
I don't know Phillipa about the hypothyroid bit , but the thought did cross thru my mind..fleetingly :-) It would be too complicated I suspect for a study, and not profitable either.
I guess you could ask on here if anyone having balance and giddiness side effects from some of antiD's later found or already knew they were hypothyroid or had autoimmune thryoid antibodies? I just made that comment as the thought did flash thru my mind.
It is listed as a side effect of some antiD's.. unsure which ones but a google could tell you the list of side effects if it helps.
I'll try to find out soon. My brain is a bit slow at present and I still have a headache since the truck accident.
