Good to be back! ADD NOT DEPRESSION!

Posted by Paulbwell on September 4, 2008, at 2:37:19

Hey,

After having an ADD diagnosis stopped after three years, and enduring many SE saddled horror stories with ADs (WG, S-SE give it 4 weeks to work-you know) an enlightened doc recently returned me to the med that i have taken longest and with most success, generic Ritalin IR.

Back up to 20mgs Q.I.D and viola!, my mind simply feels well again, not in 4 weeks-with ADs, far sooner to wellness.

Sever ADD (which is REAL) can mutate into all offshots of syndroms, and treating the ADD mind helps me the most.

Cheers Ya'll

Hi.

Great news!

Can you describe the things that adult ADD can morph into?

Thanks.

Sure, bear in mind these are my 20 year experiences and what i have researched, NOT academia, doulbe blind controls.

An inability to sustain employment, relations(ships), an overaction mind which wears one out psychically. I could elaborate, but am sure you have your own information Scott.

Cheers

I am not nearly so versed in ADD/ADHD as I would like to be. I really am interested in real-life accounts as much as what is described in the medical literature. I witnessed someone who was misdiagnosed as depression fail one drug trial after another. When his doctor reevaluated his diagnosis, he came to the conclusion that there might be a ADD component to his condition. Strattera monotherapy turned his life around.

^That could describe me!^ 7 ADs made me worse, benzos helped. some years ago a top Psydoc bough up attention, brain distration issues (it had never occured to me), and gave me small doses of methylphenidate (ha-a kiddies pill i thought!!) till a level was reached-AHA my head shut up, peace.

Thanks.

After one year off meds (4 on) for a problem a top Doc told me i had, i listened to his advice.

Tried fish oil-10 caps, vitamins, threapy, they didn't quiet my mind, apparently i have a sever adult case as it went treated for so long.

Alot of folks think i'm naturally (unmedicated) on speed when they meet me. When i first took a 5mgs Dexedrine, i fell into a dead deep sleep i hadn't experienced in years, however that medicine had issues, so we moved back to the higher doses of Ritalin.
