Please share. This is rarely if ever addressed on this board. How long did it take for Parnate/Nardil to kick in?
1) When did you first feel it?
2) When did you feel its first effect?
Thanks, Michael

Michael,
When I took Nardil, it took about two weeks after raising my dose to 75 mg/day (4-5 weeks altogether if my memory serves me correctly) for me to feel the medication's antidepressant effects. I started with the Australian Nardil and later switched to Pfizer's U.S. version of Nardil.
When I took GlaxoSmithKline's version of Parnate manufactured for the U.S., I never felt it's antidepressant effects. I felt a stimulant effect on days one and two, but I seemed to develop a tolerance to that with time. I stopped the medication prematurely (after about two weeks) because the daytime sleepiness was interfering with my ability to attend classes.
When I took the version of Parnate manufactured by Goldshield for the U.K., I noticed its antidepressant effect (a Nardil-like effect) on day one. The effect lasted 3-4 days before my depressive symptoms came close to reaching their full intensity again. I had a partial-but-consistent antidepressant response to a combination of the Goldshield Parnate and SAMe when I tried it almost two years ago.

When I took Parnate, I noticed some effects after a few days. It often takes ten days to two weeks-- but that also depends on what your therapeutic dose is. So it can take longer. Also, the effect can take time to build up, even if you have a reaction quickly.

been on nardil for 2.5 weeks, started two/three days at 15mg, a week 4-5 at 30, the rest at 45 and the last 5 days at 60. don't feel anything yet but misery and EXTREME hunger.

I think it took about two weeks to have some effect from the Parnate, but it was more like a month before it started to really work, and then maybe another couple of weeks before it worked really well. Hope this helps.
