Ok, so my pdoc has pretty much given up on the med trials. Granted, I have had some pretty bad major depressive reactions. But I refuse to continue feeling this way.
Any insight about whether adding Nortriptyline might be a good or bad trial? I've never tried a tricylic.

I just started myself. Did 25mg x 3 days, and today I'm up to 25mg twice/day. I'll keep ya posted. I also take Zoloft only 50mg down from 100mg as it doesn't do squat for me. I have depression and anxiety. Anxiety is far worse most of the time, but depression can get ugly at times too.
BTW, so far no side effects for me, and I'm very med sensative, so I guess thats a plus.

Not trying to sound negative don't the TCA's cause a lot of weight gain? Just wondering? Phillipa

I think all the meds have potential for wt. gain, but I for one am not concerned about it. I'm in good physical shape and once I feel better will be back at the gym.

This type of response bothers me. I think we should do our homework before we post this type of response which could make one not try a drug. Some tcas cause more weight gain than others. Nortriptyline tends to be more weight neutral. yes it is negative and than you post "Just Wondering" . If you don't know google it before you post. People are looking for facts not just wondering.

I worked with people that gained huge amounts of weight on them and I have googled them. Weight gain is a side effect. Didn't want to discourage anyone hence the just wondering. Phillipa ps anyone taken TCA's without weight gain as seriously would like to know if there is indeed one. Constipation, dry mouth all would be for me negative responses. I've taken three total and all were disaster for me. But that is me and my Humble opinion. Just me experiences.

> Syntroid - sm.doseI guess the first thing you should think about doing is re-evaluating the meds you are on and weed some out. For all you know, one or two of them are actually making you worse or keeping you worse. I personally see no sense in taking meds that don't work and then piling more on top. Better to change them. Hey, if the STAR*D program got such a high remission rate with just one or two meds, well, other people can too. It is a matter of being on the right meds. The ones you are on do not appear to be on target and if it were me I would be looking to axe a few to make room for new ones.

He was asking about Nortriptyline and that tends to be more weight neutral. They were a disastor for you? You took them for one or two days. Almost any drug you take is a disastor for you and you stop taking them? Rememember he asked about Nortriptyline. There's a big difference among various tcas and weight gain. Also depends on the dose.
