Tianeptine for better sex,?

Posted by Valero on July 27, 2008, at 1:57:50

Tianeptine is actually not a very good a.d. If it was as good as it's predecessor amineptine( Survector) it would have been axed already years ago. Over the long term, there are some not well documented side effects of this drug., which can be very annoying, one of them being facial twitches, mild tics, neck stiffness of the dystonic type. They can take weeks/months to fully clear, and flare up even worse when combined with other AD's and anti-pyschotics.However, this is a drug that can be taken "as needed", one of the uses I find, is it can enhance tactile and orgasmic quality during a sexual encounter. The effect quickly wears off after a few days of consecutive use, so there again it speaks against using it long term. However this being a board for folks with real pyschological issues, I'd certainly not advocate that anyone should stop treatment if they perceive a real and sustained benefit from using it.

oh christ. i already have this. from SSRIs. i thought something commonly interpreted (or oversimplified?) as having the opposite effect of SSRIs could counter/heal this.

i want to think more about this. hopefully i will post later, i am currently very clogged up mentally.

I thought I remembered your name from a previous thread on tianeptine where you offered similar advice. You might be pleased to hear I had no trouble with the combination of amisulpride with tianeptine afterall, but thanks for the warning. Just thought I'd add something positive.

Actually it is. There's nothing quite like tianeptine in the world. I've never seen so many people respond so quickly and so well to any other antidepressant. It brought me back from the depths of severe depression last month within six days.

Unlike some other posters I've found tianeptine causes moderate delayed ejaculation, particularly at high doses. It isn't intended for use as an aphrodisiac and I wouldn't adivse people to expect pro-sexual effects as a matter of course. Great if you do, it certainly makes a change for people stuck on the SSRI merry-go round!

Sorry for the delayed response, I rarely visit this site, even less so to air my experiences for what their worth. You see the bottom line here is I'm simply conveying personal subjective experience of using a medication over a period of time. I noticed quite distinctly that tianeptine produced this effect in me, it may not do it with you, as as far as the highly technical publications of the medical institutions, I have neither the interest, nor time to weed out the references. However if you delve into the writings of Dr. David Healy you are sure to find some interesting observations that ad's can induce this type of thing. Also a year or so ago when I did spend more time on this site, there were accounts of individuals experiencing tics, twitches, myalgias, distonias, etc. after extended Tianeptine use.

Hi Val,

Thanks for replying. I'll check about Dr. David Healy. I'm well aware that AD induce long term problems and way more rarely sometimes long time -good- side effects. I'm living with Post-SSRI sexual syndrome and some.

Again thanks for replying.
