I have a quick question. Without medication I'm manic without much depression (besides being tired). I started taking lamictal about two months ago and it gave me psychotic depression (never had it before). Has anyone else experienced this on lamictal and if your currently have working meds what do you take? Regards, Nik Markwell nikmarkwell@gmail.com

I cant see how a drug for "depression"/mood stablizer can make a mostly manic person without depression become depressed/ultra depressed. Im not exactly sure what psychosis is. I just had some thoughts of bashing my head through the wall...almost funny to me..the 1st time. I've gotta get off this crap.

According to my docs, Lamictal can be "activating," so that might manifest in you as irritable depression.

Okay, your docs probably know a lot more than I do. My general impression of Lamictal, however, is that it is considered most effective to prevent depression in bipolar patients, and that other mood stabilizers are better for predominantly manic patients.
My personal experience with Lamictal have been positive so far. I have huge insomnia problems that are in remission, possibly due to the drug.
