Added Prozac to Remeron

Posted by Partlycloudy on July 25, 2008, at 14:51:09

A while ago my depression worsened. My pdoc adjusted my Remeron dosage up from 30mg to 45mg, but after 12 weeks at that higher dosage, I wasn't really much better. Crying excessively, appetite is totally off (yes, I'm losing weight while on Remeron, can you believe it?).

So about 10 days ago we added 20mg of Prozac (generic) which is thankfully cheap. Today's the best and brightest I have felt in months. Cleaned the kitchen - amazing. Went to the grocery store - also amazing.

The feeling good coincided with the initial side effects of feeling jumpy subsiding. Now I'm just feeling pretty good.

Let me type that again.

Partlycloudy is feeling pretty good.

There - it's there for me to see the next time I feel like crap.

I'm so glad you're feeling a bit brighter. I will cross my fingers that it lasts and lasts.

So nice to hear someone posting good news!

sertraline (zoloft) is generic, and so is sonata now

Wow that was quick!!!! Congrats soon you'll be back to your old name. Prozac was very stimulating for me. Great. Are you on 20mg as my Pdoc starts low now like l0mg. Phillipa

Yes, he put me right at 20mg which is why I was so jumpy. But today the jumpiness went away and the good feeling came in its place. Miracle.
I'm keeping the name, though. Don't want to jinx anything.

I haven't the faintest idea. I don't think so since some medications haven't worked out at all as I neared therapeutic dosages (like Effexor - my blood pressure shot up).

I think it's interesting that my doctor has me on a couple of older-era drugs rather than any of the newer generation. Tried and true, you know?

I feel with older meds they have a lot more knowledge of the mechanisms and knowing the patient can prescribe more acurately. Mine just started patients out on low doses as her feeling is low dose less side effect and the patient more like to continue the med. Guess it makes sense. Love Phillipa
