I came off of Nardil this past week, giving up mostly because of the major weight gain that I experienced on the drug that proved impervious to diet and exercise.
Can I expect to lose weight fairly rapidly now that I am off of Nardil or is it just back to the regular old metabolism as before?
Thanks!

I lost most of the Nardil weight in about 3 - 4 weeks. Hope it comes off quickly for you too...once the carb cravings stop your weight should go down. Mind you, I'm still packing an extra 60 pounds thanks to a couple of SSRI's. Parnate is finally starting to work...I've noticed in the last couple of days, my appetite has decreased significantly, so here's so weight loss for us both!

I lost the weight pretty fast the first time I went off Nardil, but I typically lose weight when I'm depressed. The second time I switched to, I think, Marplan, and I didn't lose the weight; unfortunately, I'm still overweight. If I went off all meds that would probably be an effective diet plan, but much too painful!
As far as weight gain, the MAOI that I found caused the least was selegiline. I haven't gained weight on Parnate, but I haven't been able to lose the weight I gained on Nardil/Marplan either.
Best of luck to you!

> -CrotaleCould you please tell me some more about your experiences with Marplan vs. Nardil and Parnate. I have been on Nardil and Parnate and am about to try Marplan, buy there is so little firsthand information about positive effects of the drug as well as side effects. Did you experience weight gain on Marplan? As bad as Nardil weight gain?
How does Marplan compare with Nardil and Parnate in its anti-depressive and anti-anxiety effects?
thanks!!!
