Gerovital H3 ??? MAOI fanboys ? ;)

Posted by Marty on June 26, 2008, at 14:02:23

Anyone tried it ?

Do you think it could be good for a depressive social phobic fellow like me ?

Already ordered it with some other stuff. Didn't decide if I was going to give it a trial since I'm only on Day 16 of my Tianeptine trial and so far so good.

'So far so good', then why would you want to add something else?

Hi. Because I feel like Tianeptine MAY not be enough on its own and so I'm looking at what may be stacked next.

It's supposed to be good for arthritis, PJ.

The ads for KH3 (not quite the same thing but close) had an elderly bowler on the green.

I tried it.
Nothing happened.

I quite like the idea of taking procaine though.

"Gerovital-H3 is also a reversible inhibitor of the brain enzyme MAO, a substance that increases with age and breaks down neurotransmitters, having a detrimental affect on brain function. This is what accounts for Gerovital-H3's anti-depressant affect."

It possess some AD effects though to be induced by MAO inhibition (like Nardil, Parnate). It doesn't produce the "cheeze effect" like most full MAOI because its actually a RMAOI (reversible).

I have not tried Gerovital, but I have found that novocaine has an antidepressant effect for me. But it's very short-lived. I believe that procaine and novocaine are essentially the same thing. Of course, my only experience of novocaine is through injection during dentist visits - I have never ingested it.

Procaine is an interesting drug. It is the first synthetic analogue of the first effective local anaesthetic cocaine. It consists of the acetylcholine precursor dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) joined by an ester bond with the vitamin-B-like substance para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA). Procaine itself - like all potent 'caine local anaesthetics - blocks sodium channels, but it also has weak dopamine reuptake-inhibiting properties as well as modest and reversible MAO-inhibitory potential. However, the relevance of the properties of procaine itself as opposed to its metabolites is questionable because it is rapidly broken down into its constituents (DMAE and PABA) within minutes - much more rapidly than even the relatively short-lived cocaine.
