sometimes people respond to mixes of antipsychotics. For instance, clozapine+abilify has been used, and I imagine there are a bunch of other possible combos you could try. Adding depakote or another anticonvulsant is an option.

anticonvulsant --) psychosis

Seroquel is not a salt, its a dibenzothiazepine derived atypical antipsychotic, just happens to be attached to a fumarate base like other medications are attached to HCl.

Yes, antipsychotics can "poop out" or lessen in some cases -- it still baffles and annoys me that Seroquel isn't quite doing what it was doing before, although it is still improving or keeping a level of functionality.. But there are other explanations than merely overloading dopamine cells -- psychological ones too.

I don't know if its the best idea, if there is a history of psychosis to "vacation" antipsychotics because one may get into a state they don't particularly want to be in.

Lithium is usually indicated for bipolar -- I mean, it is one of the fastest ways also to prevent suicide, in some cases, and it can be a mood stabilizer, but there are also blood tests that should be done to monitor the level of the salt.

Its not a natural part of the human diet -- they used to use it early on as a salt substitute before they discovered it can be toxic (if not monitored like lithium today is).

It is a salt, in the way the important electrolytes, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphate, carbonate, and chloride react with your body.

Lithium carbonate (Lithobid, etc.) is the most common form. "alternative" forms such as Lithium orotate have not had evidence-based psychiatric studies that have shown any major effectiveness. Some people continue to use it -- if it works, I suppose as any alternative supplement it can be used, but there is no Li blood monitoring going on that should be done.
