I am such an air head!

Posted by Happyflower on June 14, 2008, at 10:58:17

When I take my pills, I am usually having breakfast in front of the PC and then I wonder, did I take them or not? I don't want to overdose, but then again I don't want to miss a dose. This happens way too many times so I think I need to buy one of those pill holders with the days of the week on them. Must be old age or something or Cymbalta makes me dense. lol

Happflower I put my synthroid in a little container at night and still can't remember if took it as I put a new one in when I take the first one. So how's the cymbalta working for you? Well I hope and what's your dose now? Love Phillipa

lol I do the same thing and it's so aggravating. Maybe my add because my mind is in a million directions. Get a pill dispenser that's labeled for each day and fill it. That will take care of that problem.

Hi,

I did this myself recently. It's sooooooo annoying. You think "if I miss taking them all I'll feel like crap" *or* "if I take a double dose I'll really feel like crap".

I have a solution though - just get a web-cam for your PC. Plug it in & get it to just slowly chug away all day taking pics every second. You can configure the software that comes with them to over-write yesterday's files automatically.

So if you ever can't remember, just loot at the pics..!

Oh, can I relate to that! My method is to leave the container on the counter to remind myself to take my medication, then move it to another spot after I take it, but I forget if the container was in the "correct" spot to begin with!

You're not an airhead...just a busy person with a lot on your mind!

Here's my method. It's obviously not foolproof but has the virtue of simplicity.

I have a little porcelain dish on the bathroom sink. When I wake up in the morning and go to the bathroom, I always put my day's medication in the dish, as part of my morning routine.

If you only take one pill per day, it is helpful to have a second one you take at a different time, e.g. a vitamin pill that you take just before you go to bed, or when you brush your teeth at night.

I always take two salmon oil capsules in the morning and one before bed, so that helps me keep track of where I am.

I have been to the store at least 5 times over the weekend, and I kept forgetting to get the thingie for my pills I keep forgetting whether I take or not. Now that might be old age or mental. lol

I've resorted to writing lists of things on my hand. If I write one on paper, I'll forget it or lose it, but my hand goes wherever I go! If you can find a monthly pill container, grab it...saves filling it every week!

Luckily I have enough skin, lol. BUt I will look like I have tattoo art! So do you use different colors? I like the idea of the monthly pill boxes.

You know they make birth control pills in nice little packets for each day, you would think mental heath would be as important as birth control. lol

Actually, they do make "starter kits" for most psychoactive drugs (although you have to buy the brand name to get them). I imagine they don't do it like contraceptives because of the wide variation in dosage.

My wife got us a little "whiteboard" for the kitchen with erasable markers. It's very useful for remembering things you need at the store. I've also seen small pads on people's refrigerators.

Our pharmacies here will make a month up for you in packets where you just pop out the med...it's a service the elderly use quite often...I've thought about having it done but it takes so little time to fill up my own monthly one...BTW, magic marker is really good for writing on your hand..red is my colour of choice lol!
