Yes its true and i dont know freaking why. At first my doctor was confused and called around because theres no interactions listed except as the old generic maoi "dont take with beta blockers". She calls my pharmacist to do some research because she has even more databases than my doctor. My pharamacist looks through three databases and find no interactions between emsam and atenolol/beta blockers.
So thinking this must be a screw up she creates a fictional patient and puts in the highest dose of emsam and 100mg of atenolol and the system didnt even bring up a minor interaction.
How is this even possible and why? Any clues as to why it doesnt even matter when the MAO-A inhibition kicks in? Weve found something thats and exception to a rule thats usually taken as common sense in the pharmacological world.
Any input from the people in the know on this? Also even attempting to get my state health plan to pay for this will be hillarious in ways i cant imagine.
