To SLS.

Bleauberry, I sure hope you find an answer soon.

You work too hard not to be rewarded with a treatment that brings you to remission. I said a heartfelt prayer for you.

- Scott

Hi Scott. Just wanted to share some stuff with you. Might be a little longish, but I think you will like it, so kick back.

I emailed my doctor yesterday to offer him followup on my various trials. Last time I saw him he sent me home with: Doxycycline, compounded thyroid T3, Hydrocortisone tabs; Memantine; liver support herbs; and a prescription antibiotic cream. I was to try them in order, starting with liver support, then doxy, then HC, then T3, then Memantine. Keep ones that agreed with me, drop those that didn't.

It was a special day that day. Six years prior I had planted a seed for a Hawaiian Bird of Paradise plant. They have wide leaves similar to banana plants, and after several years they produce their stunning flowers. In Maine, not likely. But I kept growing it under a powerful light indoors in my living room, the same kind of light marijuana growers use. Too cold or rainy most of the time for growing tropical outdoors. Anyway, as I had seen many times, there was a new leaf shoot coming up when I went to bed. The next morning, the day of my doctor appointment, and six years after the seed, I walked by this massive stunning flower of bright orange, blues, purples, and yellows. Later that day at the doc's office, he had a kind of particular wisdom and calmness and cooperation I had never seen him display before. Always reserv ed, this time he pulled out the prescription pad with a vengeance.

On the drive home I thought, wow, what a day. I know I need HC, thyroid is suspect, finally an antibiotic for these chronic carbuncles, and that Bird of Paradise! This is a special day and I feel God all over it. Later that night I went to some friends house and all they did was pray over me and each other for a couple hours.

So imagine my disappointment when HC made me feel like absolute crud. I was too gunshy to try T3 or Memantine. But something told me to go ahead with the Doxy and stick it out. I did. And within that time, as lousy as it made me feel, there was a one-day miracle of complete absolute remission.

Now not taking any of them, just miniscule doses of Milnacipran, I emailed my doc what has happened and where I am at.

He emailed me back this morning and said based on my profound experience with Doxy, he was prepared to offer a diagnosis of bacterial origin as the root cause of my inflammation, sensitivities, mood disorders, and fatigue. He specified a likely culprit called Chlamydia Pneunomia (not the sexual disease Chlamydia). He has had several patients recover profoundly from chronic diseases while undergoing longterm multiple antibiotic treatment. Apparently it takes multiple antibiotics and months to kill off the deceptive tricky hiding invaders.

And you had just done a heartfelt prayer for me. The timing involved with all of this story...the flower day/appointment day, the email diagnosis/SLS prayer day...ya know, it's just all kind of a bit more spiritual and a bit more coincidence than can be shrugged off as nothing.

Don't know where I'm going from here, but he did say antibiotic treatment should be seriously considered, and he also referred me to his favorite psychiatrist to deal specifically with the mood disorders. The particular psychiatrist claims a 90% success ratio of using a specific supplement as the base treatment for bipolar, and is well versed in psychopharmacology as well as integrative supplements and lifestyles.

So, maybe your prayers will be answered.

Looking back, with the benefit of hindsight and new knowledge, that one-day miracle on Doxy might have been just a glimpse of things to come if I had stayed on that road for months instead of just 2 weeks.

We'll see. Just wanted to share, and to thank you for the prayers. God listens to prayers, but especially the heartfelt ones.

Bleauberry,

I'm a real sucker for tear-jerkers. And I must say that my eyes filled up by the time I finished reading your post.

You might as well try the doxycycline if it is otherwise innocuous. I can't account for your "blip" remission, but doxycycline does act as an anti-inflammatory in the brain along with its anti-microbial properties. Either way, I hope you strike gold. The occurrance of a blip early in treatment was considered to be a good sign by the doctors at the NIH.

I won't say good luck because I believe you will have conquered the depression within a few months with logic and faith.

I apologize for not having the attention span at the moment to read all of the first msg in the thread... That said, just thought that I'd mention that at least once (and I believe on more than one occassion) that my girl-friend has said that she's expeienced "remissions" more or less, while taking anti-biotics for something else.

Sorry if I missed the main topic of the post, and if I'm rambling a bit - in a bit of a hurry too - nonetheless I hope you feel better - both of you!

Michael
