I have to ask this question.....amytal for sleep

Posted by Sky Brite Line on May 30, 2008, at 18:38:45

I know this is not a ask a doctor website, but, i have been on lorazepam, clonazepam, alrazolam, and trazodone, respirdal, and abilify,...not to mention Zyprexa.

First thing, at night i cant even go to sleep on my sleeping pill because my mind, its not like it wont stop thinking. Its i'm feeling im having "waves" of eletricity going through my head. I'm going to ask about Tegertrol (anti-convusant)

But do you think at all Amytal would be good for sleep. My new doctor, is one of the top psychiatrists in 2005.

First of all i know that, of couse it would get me to sleep, but does it have a after effect? non of the benzo's i've been on had after effects, when they wore off, they wore off. I take 2 benzo's

I need to get checked for any siezures, because i havent taken Xanax in a while and i realized i'll suddently get dissociated, or feel "unreal" not with reality. And can't relate to in conversation.

Any electricians here?

First of all, there technically is waves of electricity going through everyones head as neurotransmission is very similar to electrical transmission, it just done chemically. But I know the feeling you're talking about. It's like your head is buzzing and won't shut off even though there are no specific thoughts running through your mind.

The key is to calm the mind. Benzos and sleeping pills should do this for you.

I don't think Amytal is a great idea. The barbiturate sedation can be quite unpleasent compared to the benzos you're used to. They're also more likely to aggravate depression. Hve you discussed this with your doctor? I don't think he'll be likely to prescribe it.

Is there any particular reason you want a barbiturate? They're no more effective than benzos and have many more troublesome side effects and drug interactions.
