Hi, I take 150 mg of Wellbutrin SR twice a day. It's helping me along with Cymbalta.
I was thinking of switching the SR for the XL so that I could take just one dose in the morning. However, I am worried that the XL will not work for me the way the SR does (just general fear).
Has anyone switched to XL and not found it as effective as the SR?
Thanks.

I have been on XL at 300 mgs in the morning for about a month. It is ironic that you post this because I was going to post a somewhat similar note only about XL.
I saw my doc today and he said that even though XL is marketed as being one you can take once a day, for some folks like me, he finds that taking 150 XL twice a day is better. I basically need more peaks than once a day dosing allows. He still feels like XL is superior to SR. From what I have read on this board and others from the point of view of consumers, the jury is definitely still out on which is better.
So, I guess it is kind of a mixed bag as far as which one to take and when. I just want something to take to keep me from wanting to crawl back in bed in the morning after the kids go to school and yet have it still doing its thing at dinner time.
Hope you do well with whatever schedule you choose.

...for my part, I don't find any difference between the SR & the XL.
Of course, every person is different, so perhaps twice daily dosing, as the previous poster mentioned, might fit you better. As they mentioned, It seems as if you could try the twice a day dosing with either the SR or the XL... But as I said, for me, the XL once a day works as well as the SR twice daily did.

One tricky thing about the -sr form is that if it is taken too late in the day it can interfere with sleep. Some have to take it at lunchtime so it doesn;t interfere with sleep, others dinner time and no later.
XL is pretty equivalent and once a day helps make it less complicated...which is always welcomed!
