Llurpsie kix EliLilly A*S

Posted by Llurpsienoodle on May 6, 2008, at 15:22:09

So, today at the APA conference (psychiatry) in DC, I was walking around the exhibitions, trying to pick up a pen from each of the medications I am on.

Well, I got to the cymbalta kiosk and told the drug rep about my withdrawal that lasted 6 weeks and landed me in the hospital (ca. 2007).

They whisked me away to the back of the kiosk, to talk with the "medical people". I demanded to see studies about discontinuation effects, having already seen the ONE study, which lasted 2 weeks and found 50% reduction in symptoms, with 50% of the cases unresolved at the end of the study.

"Any plans for future studies"? no
"Any public disclosure of adverse events?" no
"Any plans to publish adverse events in the next study of discontinuation syndromes" possibly

They had no idea what to do with a conference participant who was a consumer of the drug.

I also went up to the abilify folks and told them that they made a great product.

still, I feel like I kicked Eli Lilly's *ss. I made sure that they wrote "increased suicidality" as one of the side effects from the discontinuation, and that they noted that I spent 8 weeks doing a gradual taper.

I wish they actually listened. boo

My doc suggested cymbalta to me yesterday for "pain." I told him NO I wasn't depressed and didn't need that much trouble for a little pain.

MB it worked great for my backpain didn't know I even had any til stopped the med was on 60mg for about three or four months. Just stopped it . First went to 30mg for a week then off. No withdrawal. I figure since it didn't give withdrawl effects it just doesn't affect me. Phillipa

I have never felt so sick as when I took cymbalta once. I know you're supposed to stick out side effects and let them improve, but no way! I thought I was going to die. Nothing was worth that.

Hope that's a darn awesome pen! :) I do love those free pens.

I had exactly the same reaction to Cymbalta - I stuck it out for a month then refused to take it! I thought I was going to die too! I most of the time I couldn't move off the sofa I was so ill and the slightest movement and I was being throwing up!

Horrible things!
