i just wanted to know what types of alcoholic drinks were ok with Emsam?...gin? wine? vodka?
Please let me know honestly. I know what my T will say...nothing can be taken...but I know why she will say that, so I don't drink. I'm not a "drinker" but sometimes I need to drown my sorrows and the only way I do it is through alchol..which I havent' in ages..but right now I need a drink darn it. Sometimes you just need a drink to get you through life...please tell me honestly.

Distilled spirits are the safest as far as tyramine is concerned.
Bottled beer is generally OK, but beer tapped from wooden kegs is somewhat more risky.
White wine is acceptable, and some people say that red wine is OK, too, and they're probably right.

Thanks for responding. It's better to know what one can take cause when emotions take over, it's hard to know what one can take then. I'm a bit calmer today, but not totally.Got triggered really badly for no good reason. I haven't felt like skipping therapy in a while...i do right now...

I'd probably not drown in RED wine - per the warning on the patient handout. I mean, heck, choose the white over the red, just in case, you know? The pinto instead of the Fava, etc...."MAOI diet."
