I have been on 400mg/day of provigil for the last year or so, it has greatly improved my depression, energy and moods. I am concerned because I know there were a number of days I took 600mg instead of the 400mg. I am wanting to taper off to 200mg/day but am worried that I might experience some serious side effects primarly depression etc. Does anyone have any advice with respect to this situation. I am most thankful. Bobby

All I can say is from personal experience. I take 400 mg of Provigil daily. But, some days I only take 200 and other days I forget completely. I haven't really noticed any withdrawal effects. It should be said, though, that I have only noticed a slight benefit from Provigil, so maybe that makes things different. Thought I'd post in case that's helpful.
Best,
EE

Although I have no personal experience others have said it works better with days skipped so maybe no withdrawal???? Did you check the withdrawal board? Phillipa

If I skip a day or 2 due to the price so I can make it last longer, I don't have any withdrawal symptoms. I just get my old excessive daytime sleepiness come back. My sister told me I became very distant and grumpy, which I personally didn't notice.
Aside from feeling more tired again, there was no actual withdrawal symptoms compared to other drugs I have taken in the past. Like SSRI's for example, I'd get very sick, very quickly.

There were days I took 800 and days I didn't take any.. I didn't withdrawl either.. Just was really tired.. You can cut back and you probably won't notice much in the way of physical withdrawl but the tiredness might come back..
This is the end of the thread.
