Nardil - foggy brain

Posted by DontNoMuch on March 12, 2008, at 10:52:32

I am on Nardil, 15 days total, just started 60mg per day, yesterday. Spacey, foggy, thinking is like twice as hard, sort of a stupor. Still feeling sad.

Does it get better?

Maybe you should try a smaller dose? The first time I was on Nardil I felt that way. I tried it again a couple of years later and it helped ...

I am on Nardil seven days total. I experience the brain fog a little bit so far. Got lost on my way home from a place I've been at least two dozen times today.

Has the brain fog gotten worse since increasing the dosage? Are you experiencing any other side effects? Is the Nardil working for your depression at all yet?

First of all I would not have started at that dose. I took 15 mgs for a week, then 30 mgs for a week, then 45 mgs, etc. Second, do you take all of it at one time? I split the dose by taking it thoughout the day. Like every 4 hours. That helped me a lot.

Hope this helps!

I am starting to see some results from Nardil 45mg. I am so much less anxious. I am still pretty anhedonic but I'm hoping that will pass as the Nardil continues to build up in my system. I am having very few side effects.

I see my pdoc on Thursday so he may keep me at 45 or raise me to 60. I think I'd rather stay on 45 for a full 4-5 weeks before raising it. I don't want to start side effects if I don't have to.

I had (/have?) this problem when i was 45mg or higher of Nardil (i have been on Nardil 4 years, but i have been trying to suffer through staying on 22.5 & 30mg for awhile now, for many various reasons). Of course, I think i always had this problem [even before Nardil], but i think Nardil almost definitely made/makes it worse.
Anyway, i've noticed that splitting the doses (unfortunately) is much better than taking more than one pill at a time. I think 3x/day is ideal for being frequent enough but not so many times that it's hard to keep track, but this is difficult with 60mg per day cuz you can't evenly split four pills up 3 times a day. I am currently dealing with a similar situation right now as i am on 30mg/day. (I am probably going to try to get a compounding pharmacy to convert the pills into 10mg doses for my next prescription-- i've talked with a couple that said they could do this.) You could either take one pill 4x/day, or 1 pill twice and 2 pills once in the day. Yeah, when i was on 60mg i used to take 2 pills twice a day (once upon waking and once before bed). It was much easier to take, but yeah i remember being COMPLETELY out-of-it exhausted oftentimes, especially in the afternoon.
Oh, i just through the thread again-- yeah i guess Brooke already touched on this.
Sorry i wanted to reply to this weeks ago but never finished. How are things going presently?
