Hello,
I started to take Provigil and was wondering if anyone had an success with it. This is my fourth day on the medication. I started out with 100 mg a day and worked up to 200 mg. It is prescribe for fatigue. I have not felt much of a benefit from it yet. Does it take time to build up in your system? Thanks!

Are you taking anything else AT ALL? I guess it might need to build up over time for some, but usually its effects are felt pretty quickly, especially at 200mg after just 4 days.
If you are taking anything else then that might be why you've had no response yet. Use much caffein? You might want to stop that or cut down.
For what its worth, Provigil is a pretty mild drug at the best of times.teck

I've heard that after a few weeks you may need a break as sometimes can stop working. Isn't it a once a day med? Phillipa

I dont think it stays in your system very long, even after prolonged use. At least not at levels for people to notice any effect.
Yes you can split the dose. Its often recommended to take half morn & half noon.
And again, are you taking anything else with it at the moment?

I had modafinil (Modavigil) which is the same I think. For me it was a lot better than Ritalin. The modafinil definitely gave me more energy straight away (I mean within an hour say). The Ritalin makes me peak in an hour then go down, down, down the rest of the day.
I was taking up to 400mg of modafinil in 2 lots. One when I woke up & the other about midday to get me through the afternoon. I would be a little concerned taking stimulants much later as you may have trouble trying to get to sleep, which will make you tired, which will make you want more stimulants, etc, etc, and down you go...!
Good Luck..!
The only reason I stopped taking the modafinil was because of the co$t. I heard that there's going to be a generic version "one day soon"...I hate Ritalin :(

My experience is that it worked immediately, BUT the effects are pretty subtle. That could be what you are experiencing. Frankly, I found it to be a little disappointing of a drug. :(
Best,

I think you should feel the effects immediately. If you're not feeling it, I would suggest you try something different.

I think that something like bupropion or an NRI (desipramine, reboxetine) would be more appropriate for your fatigue if Provigil isn't doing anything. These other drugs also seem to have a low poop-out rate compared to stims, which I consider Provigil to be.
Have you tried any of the others mentioned above? And is fatigue your ONLY symptom, or do you have other issues like low moods, etc?
