Hi
I've read a lot of info on Cymbalta and most it says that Cymbalta causes WEIGHT LOSS. However, I don't believe that was the case with people on PB who tried the med.
I know that everyone responds differently, but did you gain or lose on Cymbalta? Also, were there any side effects that you could not tolerate.
Thank you.

I have no experience with it, but I did read peoples' experiences with on aboutdepression.com and many were reporting weight loss. For some, it had appetite-suppressing qualities.

>I hope you are right. I looked at old PB posts and people reported a large weight gain. It's hard to know what it will do.

>Crap. I wonder if it messes with one's metabolism or if diet and exercise can keep the weight gain away.

Probably not enough time to gain or lose weight. Maybe ... I don't know.

Maxi, I was on cymbalta for over a year. I did not have problems with weight gain or loss until I began my taper and then I started having cravings. Namely sugar cravings....you can counter the cravings with protein servings. There is website that can help with the cravings induced by certain drugs. I will look it up if you are interested. I never remember the web address. I was though at my ideal weight when I went onto cymbalta. I was on 60 mg. for over a year. rsk

Thank you! That is comforting to now. I am starting Cymbalta at the end of the week. I pray it helps.

I have been on 60mg of Cymbalta for over a year now and I've found it to be weight-neutral.
Here's my mix:
WellbutrinXL 300mg per day
Cymbalta 60mg per day
Clonazepam .5-1mg per dayI got off of Neurontin and started Clonazepam about 5 months ago... And so far, no weight-loss but no weight gain. I was gaining steadily on Neurontin.

Maxi, now I did have issues until I reached the maximum dosage so be prepared. Until I got to 60 mg. I did not get relief. But everyone is different and I was only on cymbalta nothing else. You probably have other drugs to help with your titrate up. good luck

That is good news! I will continue taking my Wellbutrin (300 mg) with the Cymbalta. I am waiting for it to arrive at the pharmacy.
I hope my experience is the same as yours!

Maxime,
I thought the doc took you off Wellbutrin the last time you were in the hospital?

She did because I have an ED. But my own pdoc put me back on it. I am really not worried about having a seizure. I just want to find some relief from this depression.

The pharmacy had to order the Cymbalta for me. I still don't have it. I want it NOW. Although, the higher dosage of Wellbutrin is making me feel a little better. I am not as tired on the higher dosage (300 mg) but 200 mg was making me tired.
