Any Nardil Failures?

Posted by bleauberry on January 18, 2008, at 17:35:56

Just based on anecdotal evidence on this board, it seems like Nardil is pretty darn good for almost everyone who tries it. I remember in another forum where meds are rated by users there was only one person who got worse on it and finally in a fit forced the doc to take her off after 3 months of torture. The other 20 or so users got moderate to complete benefit from it.

I went to research clinical trials of Nardil and in them it had a response rate not any better than anything else. About 60% or so. Folks here have said Nardil needs 3 months to work, so maybe those trials were just too short. Here at babble it casually seems like the response rate is more like 95%.

I am curious. Does anyone know of anyone or remember anyone that was not helped at all by Nardil or got worse on it? I'm not talking about the side effects, just the therapeutic effect.

I wouldn't say that. I know a number of people for whom it didn't work, or simply pooped out. Not to mention, I know of those who could not tollerate side effects. I know one guy who had a psychotic epsiode because of it, and another who said they just felt like a zombie.

1 week ago i was running short of my supply. im on 90mg per day. so i dropped my dose to 60 for one day, then 75 for two days. then i found more nardil and i was back to 90mgs right away. I suddenly got dicontinuation symptoms (zaps, whooshes feeling, less theraputic and weakness) its been like this for a week. I hope im back to normal soon, but ud think that just those few days on a slightly lower dose wouldn't have affected me.. are my pooping out? did my body make tons more mao just in 3 days? I dont know but ive been back on my normal dose for a week and still feel withdrawl! getting very anoying, im a student. any clue why this happened? I ve been on nardil for 3 months and a week.

I wonder if some on the new board would have a more scientific reason for this happening..I just wonder if your system got a bit of a jolt from the sudden 3 day reduction and another when you took the 90 mg..hopefully it will adjust soon..I would be worried if that happened to me too..if you're still feeling that way in a day or two I'd give my pdoc a call..I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that's it's not pooping out and simply an adjustment problem..

YES exactly.. I really hope its just adjusting. If I poop out after 3.5 month of nardil at 90mgs ( I started at 75mgs/day) then I all I can say is WOW! I've really F***** up my brains sensitivity from all the years of ssri's that never worked. I was desensitized very quickly and spent 4 years trying one and another.. nothing ever worked again since my first Paxil expeience which I stopped purposely during the summer 4 years ago because I thought I wouldn't need it. well Nothing ever worked again. Fingers are crossed for Nardil stabilizing again. I'll let Yall know if it does or not. it will be interesting foresure. It should be working in a few days again eh, if not Im one weird son of a gun.

Hi,

It never really worked for me, I tried it about 3 times but only gave it a month each time. It did seem to be a relaxing drug but it did absolutely nothing for my depression.
