High-dose Lamictal or Remeron increase energy?

Posted by ExcellentCamper on January 14, 2008, at 14:06:39

The next step my doc is having me take after failing Emsam treatment is increase my Lamictal dosage. I'm up to 175 from 150 and going who knows high (I see him this week). I'm open to it, but a bit skeptical of it having a positive effect on energy. It's a mood stabilizer, right? Works great for reigning in my rumination and keeping me moving forward, not looking backward, but I haven't found so far that it puts a spring in my step or cuts through the fog that often enshrouds me. So anyhow, I'm skeptical, but I am open to hearing success stories from those who have stepped up their Lamictal.

The other thing I'm wondering about is if anyone's found increased energy/motivation on higher (45 mg and up) doses of Remeron. I was on it for a while years ago and got all the usual side-effects (weight gain, trouble getting up, wiggy dreams). But I don't think I ever went beyond 30 mg to get the effect of its norepinephrine action. Can it actually be activating at higher doses, or does merely the drowsy effect wear off?

Background: Can't do the SSRIs or Effexor for this; have tried Provigil and Strattera. I exercise, do lightbox therapy, therapy, and semi-regularly supplement with rhodiola, but still struggle.

Thanks, Will

I guess they just haven't worked that way for people! On my way up to 300 mg Lamictal. Maybe a magical wonderland awaits me there.
