When I took solo Wellbutrin, I definitely had a short temper. Adding Zoloft into the picture seemed to fix that. Maybe the norepinephrinergic action of the drug?

Didn't attribute to the med while I took it but I think not sure that lamictal let me express my anger and really it was inappropriate as I threw a plastic bottle at the brick wall of a store in front of people as I was mad at my husband. Never did that in public before. Only 50mg????? Could it have been that and why? Phillipa

I think the most popular theory is that when rage/agitation happens it is a sign of bipolar rather than depression. Strange though, if that is true, why a mood stabilizer like lamictal or lithium might actually cause rage. So that makes me think that there is some other neurochemistry that is being thrown too far out of balance by the drug. Too much norepinephrine, dopamine, or serotonin. Not enough GABA. Something like that. I have experienced that kind of rage 3 times in 13 years. Once was when increased prozac from 20mg to 40mg. Another was when I took modafinil or adrafinil monotherapy (they didn't do that when mixed with prozac). The last time was when starting lexapro at a mere 2.5mg. For me it looks like too much serotonin too fast can spark rage. Whether that is a chemical imbalance thing or a sub-bipolar thing, I don't know. If it is a serotonin thing, then I don't understand why a tiny dose of zoloft will end the rage agitation stuff in a matter of hours, and yet lexapro would spark it.
