Someone has experinces with this "systeme"?
Someone has find a study in internet which confirm benefits of using evry 1. 3. 5. day ... a SSRI drug and every 2. 4..... day a tryciclic antidepr. drug ???

no experience here, but i've OFTEN wondered about using an SSRI every other day.
i have BAD reactions (typically) to SSRI, BUT i think only taking everyother day might effect my reactions.
right now my response to lexapro is only slight hypomanic but i think if i took everyother day at a slightly higher dose it might be better?? not sure but interested.so i am also interested in this info.

I found many subjects in internet using this combination - but using everyday.
But i haven't find "every second day swithing use"...

i am now trying lexapro every other day
trvastal everydayadderall according to my brain chemistry of the day

i tried to sell this idea to my pdoc and he was not amused

Well when prozac first came out only in 20mg sizes my pdoc said since once a day gave me severe panic attacks to take it every three days.But now you can get smaller doses what if you take a small dose daily instead of the full dose? Seems that a low of people I e-mail with are finding that low dose ad's are better that the recommended doseage. Hopefully someone will post a study. Phillipa

I've tried alternating sporadically and it does seem to help a bit, tried it with lexapro and Seroxat. I've also tried taking high dose of Seroxat every other day and sometimes this helps but it is not reliable.
I haven't tried alternating with tricyclics and SSRIs though. I think it would be worth a try definately.

Elanor, I have never gotten much relief from SSRI drugs other than slight improvement of anxiety from lex. I did get weight gain and other side effects. So I went off lexapro. It made me flatter than I am usually which is pretty flat. I then as an experiment took a 10 mg. of lex and that day is the only day I got the so called high. I have more energy etc. I dont think though if I continued taking it daily I would continue to get the same results. I haven't taken another one. Interesting concept every other day with tricyclic drug.

Actually this kind of makes good sense to me, though I really can't explain why. I have noticed over the years that I do best when there is movement in the dose rather than a steady state in the dose. I feel best increasing a dose or decreasing a dose, but worst when the dose is steady day after day.

How strange me too. Even with the synthroid as take 1/2 pill one day a week and if I cut down on benzo one night feel great same with luvox up or down. Phillipa
