I am starting Nardil today. My pdoc is telling me to start with 15mg/day for two weeks then bump it up to 30mg/day. I'm the first person he's ever put on Nardil, so I'd appreciate input on whether this dosage strategy makes sense.
Also, what is the best time(s) of day to take Nardil?
Thanks

I went a little faster than that..15 mg for about 5 days, 30 for about 4 then up to 45..no bad side effects, other than some balance problems and now insomnia..but is working great for socializing, lifting depression and motivation..good luck to you!

Yeah..about 6 pounds..but I'm a sloth! I have no desire for food during the day..it's the night time grazing that's doing me in..some of the SSRI's I've been on were way worse than Nardil for carb cravings..

Hi,
Hope your PDOC has been researching Nardil. Since you can't count on that, it is your job to do the research. I know how hard it is when you are very depressed, but learn as much as you can. I find the abstracts in PubMed the most accurate without pure BS like some of the other internet articles.IMHO 15mg for two weeks is to slow. I'm a large man and take 90mg of Nardil. I don't know what you weigh, but the normal effective dose is 1mg/kg of body weight. After you get to the effective dosage, it will somtimes take six weeks or more to start working. A lot of people will give up before they get three months into a med trial, especially if their depression is severe.
The time of day of dosing does not seem to make much diffence on efficacy and side effects. I take half in the morning and half at night.
Take care,
Jedi

what would you recommend as far as increasing my dosage? How quickly should I move up?

Hi,
There seems to be a lot of repeated information online for a starting dose of 15mg three times a day. In my opinion only, you should be able to raise the dosage by 15mg per week. Everyone is different, of course, and if the side effects are to intense; you will have to start slower. The max dose is stated at 90mg per day, but many people go higher. There is also a school of thought that the dosage required to stop the depression will be the maintenance dosage.
Good Luck,
Jedi
