Been trying to figure out a good timing schedule on my Klonopin. I take once before work in the mornings, and once in the evening. How long should I expect the average time it takes to kick in from my morning dose?
thanks

> thanksKlonopin works right away. If I know your dosage, it would have been better. When I was taking it I went up to 3mg daily. I will break 2 mg tab into half and take at noon, then the whole tablet at night. It is very long acting.
To get stabilized on this med, you will have to dose it maximum one week. After that there wouldn't be much sedation to upset you. You will get a steady anxiolytic effect. The only draw back Klonopin has is it tends to induce depression when the initial effects wears off. I would get extremely depressed to the point of crying. The reason I switched to Xanax.

Yeah I've tried all the benzos, klonopin seems to work best for me. I've been on it at different doses for well over a year now. WE can't quite figure out what the main problem is because I used to take 14mg a day split in two doses, now I take 5. (3 in the AM, 2 in PM). Anxiety is still present but tolerable.
Thanks

i know it was....which is what's so confusing. i was on the equivelant dose (around 14mg Xanax XR) daily, and it did NOTHING for my anxiety. Like a Placebo. Am I some sort of freak of nature? it's crazy...

Becks thats what happened to me when that pdoc took me off the low low levels of luvox and just gave me the extended release 3mg xanax BID then 8mg of ativan. Ended up not sleeping at all and in the ER after two weeks went back to 50mg of luvox and 20mg of valium. Paradoxical effect????? I don't know Phillipa

Its a great drug, been on it for 10 years. Overrated as far as addiction. Take anywhere from 0.5 to 5mg. Good luck.

What do you mean by overrated in terms of addiction? I'm trying to taper right now and I'm worried about it.

> ThanksHi,
Klonopin takes a long time to kick in for me. It can easily be a couple of hours before I feel and lessening of anxiety after taking it. I take 2mg in the morning and 2mg about 6 hours later. 2mg more later that evening if I feel a definite need for it.
I have found that Ativan kicks in a lot quicker, within an hour.
I don't understand why the Klonopin takes so long to kick in. Seem like it ought to work right away.
