I have been experienceing major mood swings and may feel ok one minute and then a few hours later feel exhausted and start obsessing about dying suicide.. it just hits me hard out of the blue.
Does anyone have any advice about anti-depressants. I don't even care about sexual side effects or any of that sh*t anymore.. I just need something to save me.
Please give me advice. I have tried lots of stuff, but I am considering anything.
main symptoms are severe depression from July to December , feel good the otehr months.. Bad anxiety/panic all year loing. So I need sometihng for depression, anxiety and something thats stimulating with out exacerbating the anxiety. Please any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. I am at the end of my rope here.
Thanks

> JBFor mood swings like the ones you describe, which
may be part of unipolar depression, lithium worked for me. But it takes about 3-7 days
for full stability; still it works miracles within 12 hrs. if they can keep you under observation-- the dose should be managed by a dr. Obviously you can't do it by yourself so i would go to an Emergency site, and tell them you havemood swings
suicidal ideation
anxietyI hope you do take a cab.

Thanks for the advice, but I have taken Lithium for years and it does not do jack for my depression at all, and I only experience a bit of hypomania in in Feb- April. . I think I need an anti-depressant.

Could have been the dose of lithium; if they
don't want to give you that, i don't know
what AD is quick acting for suicidal depression.
I do know that suicidal depression once it
starts has a life of its own-- it's really
dangerous. So, whatever you do, i hope you
get professional care soon. ERs are used to
suicidal arrivals, so i would not feel shy to
go there and just tell them.Squiggles

I assume you've tried vitex?
Vitex + omega-3 + folic acid is working for me currently.

You say that you are experiencing depression during the months from july to december, and you experience some hypomania the other months. I would suggest a mood stabilizer rather than a AD. I use depakote and it works well. Lamictal could be an option for you. It is said that it helps control mania and depression. No blood tests with lamictal.
GoodLuck : )

The month thing you mention sounds like a dead ringer for a bacterial infection. I would look into being tested for a possible CWD bacterial infection. From what I understand, the bacteria that are responsible for Lyme disease, CFS, Fibromyalgia and a host of other conditions are able to wreak much more havoc in the presence of higher levels of vitamin D (due to increased sun exposure). Research the "Marshall Protocol" for more information.

It will help with the depression and most importantly the anxiety. The MAOI diet is overrated and you will be fine as long as you stay away from cheese.

I am definitely getting some Omega 3 supplements today, I have not tried vitex, I actually have looked for it in the stores around here, but its not available, I guess I will have to order it.
How soon did you notice an effect from the Vitex?
Also what are your dosages on each?
Thanks

Thanks for the advice twinch,
I have actually had long trials of Lithium and Lamictal and they have been like taking a sugar pill. I still had slight hypomania, but mainly months and months of horrendous depression and anxiety. Unfortunately they did not seem to help. Thanks though

In reply to Re:Please consider Nardil, posted by UgottaHaveHope on November 19, 2007, at 3:14:37
I would definitely consider taking Nardil, the diet is not a big deal to me, not drinking at all would be the only hard part, but if I wasn;t so depressed , I am pretty sure that wouldn;t be an issue.
Only one thing, how are the sexual side effects? If you don't mind asking, are you male or female?? Thanks , if thats too personal , don't worry. I am a male and am concerned about that b/c I would like to be able to have sex again : )

Thanks for your concern, the suicidal thoughts have stopped.. It just came on so strong out of the blue, it was so scary, it almost seemed like it came from a food allergy or something.
But thank you all for your concern, I do not want to commit suicide, and I am not going to, but sometimes those ridiculous thoughts get in my head and they are hard to get out. I feel much better today though.

> JBSorting your depression out is more important than your sex life SURELY! Nardil usually causes anorgasmia after about a month, usually around the same time as it starts to work. It lasts for a good while but for most it does eventually fade away on it's own. Theres always a chance that an addon med might help with the anorgasmia - I currently have this side effect with Marplan & plan on trying a tiny dose of mirtazapine for it.
At the end of the day you will still be able to have sex & enjoy it, but for a while you'll find it difficult to orgasm.

> Sorting your depression out is more important than your sex life SURELY!You're right. Same with weight gain unless it makes you lose control of blood sugar (as in my case). The trouble is, as you begin to feel better, the sex and weight gain become an issue. And if you're young and trying to start a family sex is a big issue. With old buggers like me it's of secondary importance
