Drug Induced Hypomania..! I want it to last...

Posted by Mishal on November 12, 2007, at 0:53:36

Hi

Almost convinced this is drug induced hypomania.

I am on Provigil + Trivastal. Both are stimulating meds. I am on a constant state of arousal for the past couple of days with racing thoughts, high libido, increased desire to socialize and decreased need for sleep.

I would say this is a pleasant hypomanic state. The reason I insist it is "pleasant" I don't experience any hurdle to do my daily activities. Thoughts are racing, but I can keep them in check if needed. Need for sleep is reduced still I can sleep if I want to.

I wish this state of wellness lasts forever..

Anybody out there familiar to this? Will this persist..? Keep going as long as I am on my meds?

No problemo

Good luck

Afraid not

Probably not

No idea.

I might try that Trivestal.

Hi Sigismund,

Trivastal definitely worths!! But be careful to take it only after a heavy break fast, otherwise your tummy won't forgive you. Besides, keep a benzo like Ativan or Klono handy as I had an agitated reaction on the very first day on it. But that was just one day. Now, I don't experience any side effects other than occasional abdominal discomforts.

You are indeed hypomanic by reading what you have posted here.

One mistake NOT to make is to try and feel even better by upping the dose further, thats for sure.

In the meantime, enjoy your good feelings ;-)

Mishal I've always wanted at least a day of those feelings. Not familiar with trevestal. But I'd let you doc know how you're feeling for safety's sake. Phillipa

No, almost certainly not. However, remember that this short pleasant state is not the real effect, and that said therapeutic effects will remain (perhaps with a few days or so of decreased mood as rebound from the euphoria). Too many people are constantly ratcheting up their stimulant doses to chase the high.

As an aside, I'm thinking of trying trivastal soon as an alternative to my Survector. How do you like it?
