Stablon to help stimulant crash?

Posted by Mishal on November 8, 2007, at 8:34:48

Hi

Stablon retains its stimulant effect all along the day if the dose is 12.5mg TID. More interestingly, users don't experience typical stimulant crashes on it. I wonder if anybody have used it successfully to prevent or ease stimulant crashes?

Could be worth a try.

Strange that you find this drug stimulating, it's reported by most to be midway between depressant and stimulant. However you raise an interesting point, as I found it very useful for easing the crashes of genuine stimulants, also of benzodiazepines, and alcohol. In fact nowadays I'd only use it for this purpose as it's A.D. effect long term is more than questionable.

That's interesting.
It's so hard to tell, isn't it, or at least so hard to be sure.
I had a better time recently when I managed to get down to 2 tabs a day, but then something or other happened.....
This morning I woke up with a state that I could tell was physiologically wrong, all revved up.
And yet Stablon always makes me chatty for a bit, which is an achievement.
But maybe overall it causes a deterioration?
What to do?

I think that researchers tend to think of it as fairly benign, and there's certainly more out there on how it might potentially be neuroprotective or whatever than on its causing deterioration.

I don't know why its efficacy long-term would be any more questionable than with other meds, save that it's less thoroughly researched than, say, SSRIs or tricyclics. It's worked in a very consistent manner for me for over 24 months.

I've just had a bad month on it, or a time of lessened efficacy.
Maybe I just need less of it.
Maybe it's turned nasty on me and the effect is changing.
I'm not sure.
In any case I have halved the doseage without difficulty and now am taking 1/2 a tab three times a day.

Hope the dose change works better for you - I guess these things are never predictable.
