Must be pretty new. I'm also interested in hearing anecdotal evidence on how effective it is against depression.
Anyone with Bipolar taking it? Hopefully it doesn't increase the risk of mania. I'm currently taking Lamictal but that isn't totally squashing my depression.
Thanks for any insight!

Jay just google deplin official website comes up sounds so strange like the nutritional products are finally going to be controlled by the drug companies or FDA as that has been the hope of the FDA all along. The website is date 2005. But don't know how long it's been available. Phillipa ps it does sound benign

You know what's strange? I was at the ob-gyn's today for tests before surgery and I asked him if he'd heard of Deplin figuring since this practice takes all high risk births he would have heard of it he said no. I then explained what it was he understood that and said he better stay on his toes with me. Wonder why it's not being promoted? Phillipa

Phillipa, Why would an OB/GYN know about Deplin as its indications are psych and cardiovascular, not OB/GYN, as far as I know. Unless the med is directly indicated for those patients he treats there would be no way docs could hear about all of the meds being released today. The pharmacist hadn't even heard of it though when she looked on her database, it was there.

Stargazer figured since they use high doses of folic acid in some high risk pregnanies he would and he did use high folic acid. Phillipa

Phillipa, that is the difference where folic acid is used in those cases but Deplin is not folic acid. I'm sure they'll hear about it in time but it is so new, it hasn't trickled down yet. If you google L-Methylfolate, do you get anything with OB/GYN or just Cardiovaascular and more reently depression?
What does the deplin website say about OB/GYN indications? I bet nothing since it is not used in those patients. You would have to have studies done in that population before Deplin would list it as an indication.
I think the newest indication is for psychological reasons.
I'm really getting sick of this new product.
What I want to see is who here on PB is using it along with their psych meds and who is having success with it. That is the only situation that interests me.
