My sleep schedule is so messed up, I can't fall asleep til 2 am and then I get up after 10 am. I know it is do the stress of my baby granddaughter that is terminal and my brother who died last week. So last night I tried taking 3 xanax after a nice shower, read a little, and then lights out. Well I couldn't fall asleep. So I got up and was on babble till 1am then I went back to bed.
My family doc said it was okay to take 2 xanax if I needed, but I took 3 because I see on the boards many people take way more than that, so I thought it would be safe. I have the lowest doseage an I only take it occationally like once a month or so.
Ambiem doesn't work for me either, it actually keeps me awake. I guess this is only tempory and eventually when the stress is better, I will sleep. okay thanks for listening to my vent.

I am very sorry about the loss of your brother.
You are under tremendous stress right now, and without sleep it will get worse.
I think you should Amitriptyline, a tricyclic antidepressant than in a dose as low as 10 mg can knock you out. Or you could try 25-50 mg of Seroquel. Neither of these meds are addictive, so you would be able to stop once you catch up on your sleep and are able to manage your stress.
I would also suggest seeking therapy, either group or invidual, to deal with everything that is going on in your life.
Take care.

Dear Happy Flower,
Blessings to you and your family...I am sorry for all that you are enduring. I understand multiple losses and how difficult it is to keep up emotionally and physically with the demands of grief.
Please take care of your self.
Love,
Heike
