I have bad anxiety, worry, and ocd. I have a hard time tolerating meds but life is not good right now. I am med sensitive so am a little confused how to start lyrica if that is what my pdoc and I decide. What do you all suggest? I am feeling terrible.

I may try anafranil but I am really scared as ssri's make me feel so anxious. The only ssri I may consider is celexa.

-- 75mg BID for 2 days, 150mg BID for another 2 days than 300mg BID... this should be enough to make Anna Nicole Smith looking good again... if you know what I'm sayin ;)

> I may try anafranil but I am really scared as ssri's make me feel so anxious. The only ssri I may consider is celexa.
-- I see. If SSRI makes you anxious then you're right about Celexa and might want to avoid Paxil since it will hit too much on some buttons anxious people like us doesn't like too much to be pressed. IF you have the extra money, I would suggest that you choose Lexapro over Celexa. It, as you may already know, is the improved form of Celexa. Some says that it's only a matter of less Side-Effects while others (like me) thinks it works better. This has to do with is "Allosteric" nature/mechanism.

Wish you luck.. and if you didn't, dont forget to clear out all the possible physiological causes of depression/anxiety. Is a big job and may cost a lot of cash, energy and time... but can you imagine only to have to take high dose magnesium or something like that ? .. wow.. you would be happy, side effects free AND Anna Nicole Smith would keep looking like she is... dead ugly. :|

sorry for the disturbing humour of mine :)

Plz post your concern in a NEW thread.. it well deserve to have everybody attentions and so you could receive a lot more CLEVER answers ;)

Keep up the fight,

Thank you Marty,

I needed a little boost right now. :)
Sleeping only 4 to 5 hours is taking a toll. Paxil was a complete disaster for me. I was freaked out. It seems I am a slow metabolizer so I read that celexa and anafranil hit another gene so I may do ok on it?? Agitation would not be good for me as my paxil experience was terrible.

I saw an endo and ruled out physical causes as much as possible. I know I have ocd/anxiety issues and am coming to terms that I need a med. It is deflating and makes me feel bad I need something but I need help.

> It seems I am a slow metabolizer so I read that celexa and anafranil hit another gene so I may do ok on it?? Agitation would not be good for me as my paxil experience was terrible.
-- From all the antidepressant I've tried, Lexapro was the less anxiogenic (followed by Celexa), Paxil was one the more anxiogenic, Effexor was also bad. I would go for it if I was you.. but give it at least 2 weeks before you judge the axiogenic level of it.

> It is deflating and makes me feel bad I need something but I need help.
-- Well.. it's WAY less deflating when you're less depressed. You know the quality of your judgement is very much affected by your state.. take that 'deflating' feeling and divise by 2, 3, 5 times and that's how you'll see the whole thing when you'll be yourself again.

Got to go... Anna's calling me through my tin foil hat. ;)

Please forgive my dear friend Marty's bizare sense of humor ;) I doubt a pdoc will let you titrate as fast as Marty recommended, however a fast titrate is okay with Lyrica...You may feel a little drunk/euphoric for the first couple of weeks, but what the hell's wrong with that, right? :) Good luck!!!

We all need to keep laughing and I personally appreciate it :) Right, so my question to you Lyrica fans, King of Nothing and Marty...what have you been diagnosed with, if I may be so bold; what are you both taking with the Lyrica? Thanks!!

Drunk or euphoric would be a welcome reprieve from the long, long nights of just laying there wanting to sleep but the mind just keeps going.

I have even contemplated alcohol and that scares me as I am not a drinker but I understand how one does want to self medicate.

Since I metabolize slow I wonder if I would need less of a dose to get what you have achieved?

thank you

TR Atypical depression, OCD, and GAD. The Lyrica helps with the depression and anxiety. I have the type of OCD without compulsions and it has been pretty mild the last couple of years. But i do occasionally obssess about seeing Marty running naked on a beach..LOL ;)

-- LOL. While I agree most pdoc wouldn't want to grill their patient with an initial too much high dose of Lyrica, let me remind you that mind let me the freedom to start it at 600mg BID... actually my first dose of this second trial was 900mg (with a little 300mg upgrade a couple hours later) ... what can I say.. WOW? I wouldn't recommand that too anyone, but it was awesome.

Possible bipolar 2 (since that pseudo-diagnostic they told me alot.. It's less and less likely)

Generalized Social Phobia which can't be diagnosed because it doesn't fit well the DSM IV criterion.

Generalized Anxiety most of the time.

and you ?

LOL :D Well I found my new med board I see!! Ok I'm GAD=Generalized anxiety disorder; panic attacks (under control atm, with xanax, ehm, somewhat :| and depression. I am looking forward to starting this Lyrica now and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the smiles and laughter. I have a fantastic p-nurse and she is very cool with anything I want to try, she actually suggested this; she asked me if I was having any physical pain, too, yes I am, here try this, it may help with that. If this med will treat my GAD and depression without Zoloft, (I hate Z it makes me clench my jaw) and I would love to get off benzos too, even though I love them, (I hate the anxiety with xanax I have right before next dose. I'll go back on Klonopin if this is needed) I will be forever grateful to you guys and her. I'll keep you posted. Take care!!

Right, so currently I'm taking:

Xanax 1mg: as needed 4 to 5 per day.
Gabapentin 100mg: Once during day.
Gabapentin 300mg: @ Bedtime
Zoloft: 75mg @ Bedtime

Have been taking 600 mg/day for the past nine days. Started at 50 mg/day and gradually increased, been taking for 48 days so far. No effects, good or bad, at any dose. Cecilia

Go higher if your Pdoc will let you...I bet you'll get some help at about the 900mg. range. But, as with any medication, it just might not work for you. I do hope the best for you. :)

-King

p.s. have you ever tried taking 600 mgs. all at once? If not, try it.

Two things #1 anafranil is a TCA not an SSRI. Important to know jonny as it is harsher than luvox in side effects. #2 Faith did your nurse put you on a detox program for the benzos or are you just stopping them? I wouldn't do that a taper would be necessary possiblity of seizures and rebound anxiety. And Marty and King you two are hopeless!!!!! Phillipa

Hey Phillipa, no I'm not even being asked to taper at this time. I'm very familiar with benzos, unfortunately, and I really appreciate your concern. I wish you all well. Cute/rich? lol, I would be a lot cuter and richer without this anxiety ;) I have to agree with you Phillipa, they are hopeless, but they're fun, too.

What happens when you take 600 mg all at once? I don't want to get high or get horrible side effects. And even in the unlikely event that this mega dose helped my neuropathy or decreased my depression or anxiety for a few hours, I can't quite see the point, it would wear off quickly. Cecilia
