Seems like I live in a neighborhood where everyone is on some med. Now older neighbor was on norco (vicodin) since July and had knee replacement surgery. Well his blood pressure drastically went up on 8 tabs a day his pain doc said it was due to the med? I'd think it would go down instread. So now weaning off it and is very tired what do you make of it. Stange as the doc said he was addicted. Phillipa

One law for the narcotics and one for everything else?

What do you mean? How can someone be addicted in a couple of months? Don't get it and the BP should go down shouldn't it? Phillipa

Hi PJ
What I meant was that since this is a narcotic there will be an entirely different treatment of side effects that may be a result.
If the BP rise (I have that right?) had been associated with (say) an AP, I'll bet the situation would be different.
Still, I think one could become addicted (as we used to say) in a couple of months

Really? Such a short time. I'd think it would take longer. He says he's tired, BP down and down to two pills and now has a lidocaine patch for his knee. Phillipa

I think it would be very easy to get addicted to 8 pills a day in a very short period of time. The body usually adjusts to any substance in 3 weeks. That's why the golden rule with benzos is usually no longer than 2 weeks for the majority of people who need them in crisis, for a short period, not people like us.
