Hi folks, I haven't posted here in years, but I need some ideas.
I have Major Depression and ADD. I'm on Wellbutrin 150mg 2x/day, and Ritalin 5mg 2-4x/day, with Trazodone 150mg at night for sleep.
I'm just coming out of a depression I believe was caused by hormones (I use a birth control method that keeps me from bleeding, but I still have the hormone surges associated with menstrual cycles).
What can I add to the cocktail to deal with hormones that won't cause probs with other stuff?? I will start taking calcium and being better about my Omega-3s, but I would like to offer suggestions to my Dr if there are any...
Prozac puts me to sleep... :/

Hi,There are several things you can try. Get plenty of exercise and work up a sweat, esp. the 2 weeks prior. Get off caffine and watch the salt intake. Viatmins; The B-complex, Calcium, etc.. The wellbutrin could be exacerbating anxiety if that is one of your symptoms. What I have found that really helps is increasing AD the back half of your cycle. Trazadone works on serotonin, and your dosage is on the lower side. Unfortunately, our hormones are like the sea current, always changing and so unpredictable.

From what I've read recently, the only scientifically proven things that help PMS are SSRIs and probably calcium. Of course, individuals may vary and find something that is what their body needs. I am still searching.
I have been on a couple of birth controls that were hell. I did start yaz a few months ago, and I think it has been pretty neutral, maybe even decreased my anxiety. But I am bleeding most of the time.
I hate hormones.
This is the end of the thread.
