Hi.
I want to ask ppl who have tried low doses of (ami)sulpiride, (Less than 200mg daily for sulpiride) what do they think of it. Does ti work well as a mood-brightener?Also, what other good alternatives do you suggest? Except of MAOIs which i consider too dangerous and classic anti-depressants.

In reply to Sulpiride as a mood-brightener. Your opinions?, posted by Amigan on September 19, 2007, at 8:30:09
Been on sulpiride for many years. I was using it to augment Prozac. It is exceptionally well for anticipatory anxiety. But its mood brightening effects are very very short lived.
The case is same for amisulpride too. Both are good medicines in conjuction with another drug. Alone they don't do their job well.

But i'm already taking prozac like you used to, i will try it anyway! :)Anyone knows of any good alternatives, btw?

I take a single dose of 50mg daily and it gives me nothing but side-effects even on such low dose:
- mild headache
- sensation of "flushed eyes"
- noticable acceleration of heart beat. This is not a stim/dopamine rush kind of palpitations. It's more like an anti-cholinergic kind..I haven't notice any psychotropic effect. Perhaps it's there but it's to subtle. So far, i'm dissapointed with it.

It's an "ok" drug (i guess) but way too weak. I have difficulties to distinguish any actual effect from placebo. I'm not even sure if it does anything at all.
The only think i feel when i take it (now that the side effects are gone) is a slight decrease in muscle tone. If it has a stimulative action at all, it's too subtle for me to notice. It must be like 10x less potent than coffee. ( I do drink coffee in large quantities btw)Do you think that it worths to try amisulpride? I keep reading that it's just a more expensive version of sulpiride, twice as potent (which only means that i have to halve the dosage) and less sedating.
This is the end of the thread.
