I have some questions about these 2 drugs:
1. I know that the higher the dose of Remeron (mirtazapine) the stronger it's NA/NE effects become. But does this mean that sedation will be counteracted? Experiences?
From what I've read in a few old posts, this ISN'T the case. I'm already considering adding Effexor (venlafaxine) - 'rocket fuel' effect! Then again, I also feel this may cause even more anxiety (excess NA/NE). I already have too much anxiety (SP). Experiences?
2. Apparantly, Effexor is effective for OCD, but are higher doses (150mg/day+) LESS effective? I ask this because higher doses of this drug are needed for increased NA/NE, and from experience high levels of NA/NE can worsen OCD symptoms. 75mg/day is no different to an SSRI (in my experience) & so WOULD be better for OCD. But I 'may' need higher doses if combining it with Remeron to get 'rocket fuel' effect (?). Comments or experiences?
3. What other ways can I combat excessive Remeron sedation if none of the above work? (NO psycho-stims allowed!)

Remeron at higher doses 45 mgs. and up is less sedating. Effexor at higher doses 150 mgs. and up can cause the release of dopamine and is more activating. If you have a lot of anxiety you may want to stay at lower doses. I am currently on 90 mgs. of remeron and 75 mgs. of effexor ( i plan to go higher on the effexor) and i feel pretty good. Hope this helps a little.

Everyone seems to report that they gain weight on Remeron because it increases thier appetite, but I'm experiencing the complete opposite! Well I'm not sure about the weight exactly as I dont weigh myself but I have hardly any appetite at all. Even when I do feel hungry I can only eat a little before I feel full. And if I dont eat soon (after I start to feel hungry) the hunger vanishes again.
Anyone else have/had this paradoxical effect with this med? Any clues as to why I'm getting this?
Also, I'm currently experiencing diarrhoea on an almost daily bases, which I feel is caused by the Remeron - maybe theres a link? Perhapse its the anticipatory anxiety I'm getting which I hold Remeron account for?
The only other med I'm currently taking is clonazepam which has never given me appetite issues before.
This is the end of the thread.
