Hi, everyone,
I've been thinking about opening a new board for medication-related discussions that people new to medication might find intimidating or overwhelming. So they'd find the main board more user-friendly instead.
Please let me know what you think at Psycho-Babble Administration. Here's a link:http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/admin/20070817/msgs/788194.html
Thanks,
Bob

It's a great idea. I'd welcome a board dealing with more complex medication and neurotransmitter discussions.

I've found this community to be extremely informative and its participants knowledgeable and supportive. This seems to be a group of individuals who share this particular interest to an extent the likes of which I've not seen anywhere else. Given the choice, I'd personally be very hesitant to tinker with something that appears to be so successful. I suspect that there would be a greater risk to the health of the board posed by the fragmenting of information of such a similar if not identical nature to multiple locations than of intimidating new visitors. Perhaps my opinion is based on my own inherent laziness and the realization that I'm only going to take the time to visit one page and maybe I'm the only one that suffers from such lethargy, but given the nature of this community, I doubt it. Please don't fragment the board.

I agree: I would not fragment this board. There are so many other sites to go to for finding basic, anecdotal information on pharma experiences. What makes this site special is the integration of these experiences with the many experts that run the gamut from chemists to med students to the many self-taught individuals.
I would though bring the withdrawal discussions back to this board. The withdrawal board is very low traffic and so many people always try to add questions on this topic to this board but get shunned to withdrawal where they remain buried.

I think the way it is the best in the world and should remain as it is.

Hi,
I think that a separation of the med board between one that focuses on the chemistry behind the meds versus user experience with any psych med would be a good thing.
I usually skip the neurochemistry explantion for the meds, but would like to have access to that as needed.
Also, has the current postings gotten much larger than those in the past? It seems like the listing of topics currently posted is much longer than previous time periods. It is harder to find a post due to the number of posts you have to scroll through.
Thanks.

in AA beginners have a choice and can attend beginner meetings that are tailored for themthere might be an argument for creating a board for first-timers but then the people with helpful experience won't be there
i won't be stalking the beginners board
so many doctors do not look beyond their first choice of meds and set up the patient to feel like a failure
you need to run that by people who have faced a similar challengethat's a long-winded no
This is the end of the thread.
