If I can't take use the Emsam patch due to the terrible muscle tension, stiffness and pain - what can I use? I can't take any of the SSRIs and the mood stabilizers (even Lamictil) make me depressed.
I'm afraid Parnate would really make me nuts. I'm now wondering how long it will take to get rid of this terrible shoulder tension.
I thought I was going to be able to stay with Emsam!
I don't think there is anything I can take now.

I haven't tried any of the maois yet. I'm willing, as long as they don't cause huge weight gain or terrible muscle tension.
You think Nadril would be better than Parnate?

I had problems with Parnate, it made me very agitated and raised my blood pressure quite a lot.
I'm now on nardil, it is causing insomnia although the parnate was worse (it is starting to improve though now it's been 3 weeks). I havn't gained weight, in fact for the most part i've lost my appetite. I can't remember now if parnate caused muscle stiffness, the nardil doesn't seem to be though on 60mg.
The best thing is it feels like it's working fantastically for my depression and anxiety but without the feeling in my head of feeling drugged or something like i do on the SSRI's.

Nardil will probably cause weight gain, but much less muscle tension than Parnate or EMSAM. Parnate, being more stimulating, will probably cause less weight gain, but induce more muscle tension.

I havn't even had to give the diet a second thought, it's been such a non issue. however i already was never into eating aged cheese or aged meat anyway.

you say the diet would be more of a pain? How long have you been depressed and looking for a medication to help you? That is true pain, not having to deal with the dietary restrictions of Nardil, that's a piece of cake.
Just no cheese or aged foods and those foods to me are the easiest to give up...fresh meats and vegetables are the best foods for you. It is a relatively easy diet to get used to and worth it itf the drug works for you. I would eat bread and water to feel better on a medication with dietary restraints. And for those who say you will gain weight, that isn't always the case with nardil. I may have gained slightly, others I know have actually lost weight.

WHat about nefazodone? The doctors seem to forget about that one, but I think it's a great drug.
