Does Prozac give you weird creative dreams?

Posted by Happyflower4 on September 27, 2007, at 9:36:26

am just wondering because since I have been on it for over a month now, it seems like I am becoming more creative in my thoughts which is good for a writer and musican. But my dreams are also more creative, very vivid, very strange sometimes. So far it is mostly happy things. Or maybe the cloud of depression has lifted ?

I also notice I don't care to eat as much either. I am not eating much between meals, and during a meal I am not tempted to overeat either. Mabye I am not emotionally eating? hmmmmm.

yes i have had vivid dreams on prozac really, really lately, i mean i thought something was going to happen after i had them! nothing did... PFFFSS whatever...

But i have had alot more dreams on prozac, like things that i hide about in my mind, they come out in my dreams and they are disturbing.... BUT WHO CARES thats just dreams! its not real life... just say to yourself it was just a dream.

I viewed the return of dreams as a good thing.

no i have been having these same dreams or a place and people that u usaully forget about, but its in a same situation with similar people, and i have been having this dream for months!

I dont know if prozac does this..... it may just "buff" it up. I reremer wellbutrin REALLY makes you have dreams. Have to take some HALDOL to block them out ROFL!

Actually, almost any antidepressant gives me vivid dreams (and I have tried about 20!).

It is really kind of fun if the dream is pleasant or neutral. In fact, a really sweet dream puts me in a great mood! But a nightmare will disturb me all day or even longer if it's a really bad one.

Thanks for your imput. So I guess it isn't my imagination! It is kinda like being on legal dope for your dreams! I actually kinda like it, it puts me in a creative mood when I wake up. I was able to rewrite my essay for college in no time as soon as I woke up ! and that was without any coffee! My dreams have such vivid colors and brightness, it is so awesome! Peace, lol

Good sign the colors being vivid as that may mean the depression is almost gone. Phillipa

But the depression is still technically there isn't it, it is just being treated with drugs, isn't it? But I do feel mostly better though. So that is good. I kinda wished I went on it earlier.

You are very lucky one med worked for you and not all people need an antidepressant forever . Let you pdoc be the judge of how long. Phillipa
