ADD treatment options - any creative ideas?

Posted by tammytab on September 26, 2007, at 22:49:53

Hello! I have ADD/ cyclothymic depression/ fatigue/ insomnia and have tried the following treatment options (these were spaced out considerably and all psychiatrist sanctioned except the tianeptine):

- WellbutrinXL (still on 150mg as it prevents major crashes but does not solve other issues)
- Lamictal (felt zombie like, bad side effects)
- Buspar (no effect)
- Remeron (caused massive depression)
- Cymbalta (felt like I'd taken MDMA)
- Neurontin (no effect)
- Fish oil (no effect)
- L-tyrosene (just feels wrong)
- Paxil (caused rapid cycling)
- Benzos (only work in combination with something else or for sleep)
- Adderall (no positive effects with slew of bad side effects)
- Modafinil/Provigil (not bad but don't see it as appropriate for using on a regular basis)
- Tianeptine (good but still crashed - but I should try again)
- Trazedone/Ambien/Lunesta for sleep (awful)

In addition for the past 12 months I've been ensuring that I do something active 5 days a week, maintain a very healthy diet, take daily multivitamins, and keep weekly therapy appointments.

All I can think of at this point is to try tianeptine again. I don't really want to try the other ADD meds out there after my Adderall experience, like Ritalin or Strattera. Am I being silly? Does anyone else have another suggestion for me? I feel as though I've exhausted my optoins and feeling really discouraged and worried that maybe there's nothing that is going to work for me. I would be very appreciative of any ideas!

Thanks for reading,
T
