Hi everyone
I've been suffering from depression for around 5 years now. My mood is generally helped with the 60mg of Prozac I take everyday.
However I really struggle sometimes to get interested in things. Things still seem to lack the colour that they once had before my depression started.
I have done some research on the net and found that Norepinephrine/Noradrenaline can have a part to play in depression.
As I am only on an SSRI - Prozac, does anyone think that I may need something to boost my Norepinephrine/Noradrenaline and bring some colour back into my life?!?!? :-(
Any advice???
Thanks!

60 mg/day of Prozac is a very high dose. Prolonged use of SSRIs, especially at high doses, may actually aggrevate the symptoms of anhedonia that you describe. You might benefit from lowering your dose of Prozac.
Conventional wisdom holds that motivation is regulated by dopamine. So augmenting with a dopaminergic antidepressant such as Wellbutrin might be worth considering.

Didn't know that high doses of SSRIs may aggravate angedonia.
Thanks for the advice!

You could try methylphenidate (Ritalin SR, Concerta) to tease your frontal cortex. It does work for me.
Also a simple switch to Effexor XR could do the trick for you.
It has been well documentated that a low dose of Zyprexa (an atypical...) may relieve the symptoms of anhedonia induced by the Prozac.
This is the end of the thread.
